So, I picked up the rooster, and I am not convinced that it is 100% silkie. Comb and wattles are very red, and ears are WHITE!!!! not blue! and he is mean too, to top it off. They told me if it didn't work out, if he is too mean, they'd take him back. I know we could probably work with him...
I lost my rooster this winter, it was a terrible winter! Well, I've been trying find a rooster all spring/summer. I finally found one, but it has silver leakage, and its comb is too red, although a walnut comb. Do you think it is ok to breed with my 3 girls, if I"m just selling to friends and...
mine is 11 months! and she is much bigger than all the others. That's the other reason why I thought it was a male. She doesn't have a comb :) I guess all girl all the way!
OK, it is a FEMALE. It squatted for me when I went to pick it up. talk about a late bloomer! LOL now I have no roosters, darn it!
actually, I have a younger one that I don't know the gender of either, but I'm pretty sure that one is a female too. apparently I only hatch out females. hmmmmm.
Haven't been on here in a while! My chicks that hatched out 11 months ago, one of them I still can't tell if it is a male or female! I really think it is a male, but no crowing and no funny business. I really think it looks male in the way it stands though.
that's just the thing, the ones who have died have come from 3 separate breeders.and one of the chicks came from my own flock. I guess my hopes of breeding to sell chicks is out the window.
I guess I'm not meant to keep silkies. I've had 4 die in the last couple months. Now my catdance roo is gone. I can't seem to keep them alive. I don't have trouble keeping my other chickens alive. I've had them all along time. These, I can't seem to keep alive. :( I have that one hen I...
In other news, my 4 month old blue girl ( the one who was neck twisting and fall over while walking) is doing better! I've been doing the selenium and vitamins and she is walking a lot better! not perfect, but she goes a long ways without stumbling now yeah!!!
Since it is cold the past few days, the chickens have sort of been more sluggish and fluffed. but they always do that in the cold. so I can't really tell the difference. I got more corid anyways, so I guess I'm just going to watch and see?
But they're in with all the adults. Should I really give it to all the adults again? I mean, I don't really want to. I know they say it won't hurt, but doesn't that hurt them trying to build up their own immunity to it, if I keep medicating?
Hi guys. I have a problem. So, some of you may remember that I treated for cocci a month or so ago. probably almost 2 months, can't remember exactly.
Well, the new chicks are about 3 weeks old maybe? (the youngest one anyways) well, the youngest one is pooping blood. I dont' want to have...
