Quail getting into position to break out of the egg
I'm too lazy to grind it, so I just take a fine mesh colander and pour the regular crumbles into it and shake. The fine, chick sized bits fall into the bowl underneath, and the larger, adult size ones can be poured back into my container.
I put one cup into a zip lock bag and pound it with a meat tenderizer tool.
After the one cup they get regular crumble.

I did exactly that for my first batch, then I remembered that I always get powder at the bottom of my chinchilla food and figured it would be the same for the game bird food. It is. The sifted results are a lot more consistent than if I pound it.

i have never really considered it wry neck as mine never really improved with vitamins as ā€œclassic wry neckā€ should. IME it varies widely in severity of defect based on malposition in the egg and time elapsed to assisted hatch. I think it’s basically due to being ā€œstuckā€ too long. I have had cases that only survived hours and cases that survived 3+weeks. my ā€œproblem childā€ right now is really severe in that his head is basically upside down most of the time. (i will get a pic tonight) but he is eating and moving around fine otherwise so I’m letting him continue until I see a need to do something different. Yours does not appear to be severe enough for concern right now. he could very well survive until time to separate the ā€œkeepersā€ from ā€œdinnerā€

Okay, well, I feel less lame for never correcting it like the internet says I should have been able to.

Tibetan (maybe tux but it's hard to tell so early).

Do fake yellers have stripes?
