Checked BB goose's nest today...she's got 6 eggs I've not taken...just waiting for her to decide to sit. She's doing really well at keeping them covered and warm so I'm hopeful for a successful hatch of a few of them at least 🤞🤞
Also, she must know she's going to be on bed rest for a while because that girl is HANGRY!! She is eating a lot of food and is not in the mood to share with her flock mates! 😂

Congratulations @servpolice !!! I can't wait to see the pics!!

So what kind of cross will the babies be?

Me either!!! 😁😍
Unfortunately I do have to get these sold...no way I have room for more geese. I'm sure I do technically, but not the way I like to keep them.

I do the same. I enjoy hatching them and then they go to live with others. One day I'll have a property with a nice big pond where I can keep them. When I'm lucky they go to live with people that send me updates. :love

Grey pom goose x Cotton Patch gander
@Pyxis do you think there will be a chance for sex link?

Sort of - the females will be dilute - grey, like Cotton patch females. The males are only going to get one copy of the gene though instead of the two that they'd need to make them mostly white. They'll probably also be grey like a female would be.

So they'll have the sex linked gene, but you probably won't be able to tell them apart.

Well Georgia has decided seven eggs (possibly eight) was the right number. She's been sitting in the late evenings and still grazing occasionally. The roommate is home sick with the flu and hasn't seen her off the nest all day. She was grazing this morning while I was getting ready for work, but was back on the nest before I left. I'm sooo hoping that she's able to hatch out some fuzzies. Do geese that hatch their first clutch usually lay a second? And do you see huge personality differences between parent-raised goslings and brooder-raised ones? I don't fancy sitting on the ground getting to know them with her screaming in my face and her husband trying to eat me alive. lol
