I'm sure your concern is warranted but they have clearly been so loved and well cared for that they have stayed around twice as long as what would be expected. :hugs I think they're beautiful but I'm sure you're able to see more being there with them.
They have actually lived with three people so I cant take all of the credit:

Me (2018 - Present)
James (2000 - 2018) (family friend)
James' father (1970s - 2000)

This is also why I don't know their exact age and DOB.

So unfortunate news, we had a day time fox attack yesterday and unfortunately my yearling female got killed on the spot 😳

I saw her mate standing next to her and it was really sad to see.

Watch out for those predators folks! They'll come anytime of the day.

Predators will do anything at this time of the year since they're having babies around now.

:(

I hate when that happens! I'm really sorry for your loss.

A little humor to brighten your day.

Mine got into some shenanigans this morning, but not entirely of their own volition. It has been raining on and off here for days. Last night it started and just didn't stop. When I got up (to work from home) this morning all the poultry pens were under about six inches of water. Georgia is nesting in a jumbo cat litter pan to keep her nest dry. Did you know that a goose, nine eggs, and hay in a litter pan will float in six inches of water? Because they do. She'd sailed right out of the entire house into the pen and was idly drifting along fussing in her confusion. Golly of course became enraged at his lovely wife's dilemma and decided that Sterling II (a very handsome Silver-laced Orpington cockerel) was to blame who was innocently minding his own business trying to work on his flamingo impersonation. The roommate summoned me when Golly started in on the cockerel and was holding him under the water. I rescued him, Georgia abandoned ship, literally, and the roommate had Golly pinned down to the ground, waterproof feathers be damned. lol He was furious and embarrassed to say the least. Once everyone was wrangled and calmed down I nudged the drifting nest back into the house, and watched from the kitchen window. Georgia returned to her nest much like a Grebe, Golly stalked over to keep watch, and once Sterling was all fluffy and dry he returned to the big yard. They've been fine all day ever since then. The water has receded enough that her nest is on the ground again. Let's hope it stays that way.

I should mention that I made it back into the house dry and unscathed. My roommate may or may not have thrown a stick (picture Jurassic Park with Alan Grant, a flare, and a very wet, angry Tyrannosaur) to distract him. Well it worked and in her attempt to get away from him she fell in her mud boots and pajamas. Somehow she managed to get up and pin him before he got her.

LOL!! What a visual! I can only imagine! :lau

@Silkie2005 how are their appetites? They do look a little on the slim side. But as all of us get older our appetites aren’t like when young. So this may just be a normal for them at their age. Do they still graze and are they fond of whole corn? whole corn can help put some weight on them but only as a treat. As elderly they need a real good wholesome diet.

Walter and Emma don't graze on the fields anymore as of February this year because Emma is blind in one eye and almost blind in the other and Walter is very bow legged these days and finds it incredibly hard to walk long distances and they were struggling. They do still have a good appetite and run (slowly waddle with their wings outstretched) towards their food in the morning. They have corn and chicken pellets. They have gotten thinner in their latter years but they are incredibly old these days and are 130 years old in geese years so I just think they are thinner because of that.
