Anyone breeding Easter Eggers? If so, please share pics!

you have such GORGEOUS EE's!!! Especially the last hen you posted, that blue/orange is my ultimate goal when I choose to breed them. Happen to know what you crossed to get her colors? (If you need to get her). Awesome.

Now, I'm fairly unfamiliar and new to chicken genetics and terminology, so I'll need to see what homozygous and heterozygous means in this case.

Thanks so much for sharing, such impressive EEs.

Thank you, that is kind of you to say. The blue laced red hen came to me as a hatchery chick but she has since had a daughter, by my rooster, who looks just like her. With EE's there are certain colors and patterns that are very common. I'm sure you'll get one eventually.

Here is my current EEs

I love my last EE here but sad she doesn't have the beard and muffs. Those are my favorite traits about EEs. Otherwise she would be an amazing EE.

Ooooh so lucky! Well with the chicks I have posted, I grabbed those today in hopes of getting a blue/bronze hen. By the colors of one of the other chicks I'll maybe get a blue/blonde or gold maybe... Do you have chick pictures of them? I'm trying to grab chicks that show the colors I'm looking for

Thanks for all this info, I was actually trying to read up on how to create sex linked chicks too since I was curious.. By the way, the bottom link doesn't seem to be working :(

Not sure appears the document is not there anymore I will look see if I may find it

Some more recent pics. These are the chicks from earlier! With the hope they have some kind of blue laced red/gold

Might be picking up some more this weekend.
@Ms Biddy I would be floored if you could share more pictures of your gorgeous Blue red EEs!

Do you also do you own incubating often?

I think the second girl in your photos will be red and blue like you're wanting. Your color types are very similar to mine.

I wish I could hatch EE's nonstop. They're so beautiful and rewarding. However, I've been focusing on my meat flock this spring and have had 3 recent hatches of those, plus a turkey. I also crossed my EE rooster to blue copper Marans hens and got two nice olive eggers.

I'm hanging onto my EE rooster as long as possible so I can hatch from his genetics again, knowing he carries two copies of the blue egg gene. Here is a recent picture I took of him. He's perhaps not the best coloration, with all that melanized black, but he makes lovely daughters and shows no aggression to people and gets along well with other roosters too. Those are important traits to me. I did recently take off his spur caps with the hot potato method. But now you can see there are just smaller sharper spurs left behind. I need to cut those down with a dremel but am not looking forward to it.

I'm seriously hoping that the case! I'll be hoarding her eggs like crazy. Now if only i had a rooster to help keep the colors going... :barnie

do you have pics of the maran offspring? Im wondering if they hold onto the bronze coloring on the hackles?

Such a gorgeous Rooster. I was debating heavily, if I should get a full blue ameracauna or just try to get lucky with getting a blue ee too to try out my future breeding project. In a way I also want to keep getting blue or green eggs.
