CHICK DAYS TRACTOR SUPPLY BEWARE

Yes, black Australorp do have a little white in the wings and sometimes in the tails too as chicks.
Ok! Thanks! I was confused when they sprouted white feathers at the ends of their wings and one of them a solid white tail feather. I've had a few australorps before, but had acquired them as adults and they were solid black. I loved those hens. They were so friendly and laid fairly reliably even late in life (5-6 years for most of them). One hen lived to be 9 years old, though she was pretty unproductive for the last four years, she was my pet and I couldn't bear to cull her... It was those girls that prompted me to choose australorps when I got my chicks at TSC. This is my first experience with chicks.

If you start a new thread we can help confirm the breed.

Your avatar looks to be a barred rock.

This thread just reminded me of the local Big R feed and supply store... where I can't count the number of times I've seen shoppers reach into the bins, clearly marked 'do not handle chicks', take out a chick, look it over, and stick it into another bin - without any concern for what's supposed to be in the different bins! Then again, when I bought chicks there I had to catch them myself... and the lady who was helping me insisted that dangling a chick by the neck to see what it does with its legs is an absolutely guaranteed, scientifically proven way to check gender.

That lady would have been fired on the spot if I was a store manager.

Yep, and people a......insert how muxups happen. That's one of the old wives tales on sexing that many still cling to

What kind of quality stuff do they have there. It’s all made in China and breaks fast. They are overpriced and hate that feed they sell, Dumor.

Everything is made at China. I'm just comparing it to Walmart. They have quality chainsaws, good stock stanks, things you'll need for your backyard .

Either way I was pretty happy with my ducks!! and in South Jersey that had quite a bit of different types of chickens, don't know how accurate they were labeled though.

Like most things it just depends on which location to go to.

PS I'm notns paid spokesperson

Not here. Ain't nobody who isn't authorized going to reach in there and get chicks out! ;)
