Thanks for all the nice comments about the ghan! This was definitely a group effort, and like leepsy said, you really can't tell that it was stitched by more than one! The border I did was really easy. I've never written out a pattern before, but I'll try:
Row 1: Attach the border color at one corner of the afghan, chain up 1. Single crochet around to the chain 1. (You should make sure you have a multiple of 4 single crochets on each side.) Join with a slip stitch to chain 1. Do not turn.
Row 2: Chain 2 (counts as 1st single crochet plus 1st chain). (Skip next single crochet, then 7 double crochets in next single crochet, chain 1 and skip next single crochet. Single crochet in next single crochet, chain 1.) Continue around, ending each corner with the single crochet. Work around to the chain 2, attach with a slip stitch to the 1st chain.
SE - this one is going to swtangle since her new "chick" has already hatched. I think okie's has moved to #5 since there are others due before her. But that's okay - Okie's will be eggstra special, I'm sure!
