Hey guys! Day ten candling and my five little guys / girls are squiggling away and look bigger everyday. **i did notice some air sacks look different than others? Some are slightly bigger and appear more clear like plain white and the smaller ones are slightly more yellow from the reflection of everything else going on in there I think. The size isn’t alarmingly different I just noticed a difference. I don’t want to lower humidity because some are larger but I don’t want to raise humidity because some are smaller. I’m trying to keep it around 30-40% because it does fluctuate a bit. What do you guys think? I can add photos later but I’ve been referring to the chart and maybe a few are slightly under what the ten day mark should be but I feel like since I still have 18 days to level everything out this problem is manageable (if it’s even a problem)

I’m same way. Aw i would be so stressed I hear you that’s why I am waiting to hatch in July because after my five eggs my baby left me didn’t work out since I’m going away a few days first wk of July so if I did it now they’d be little babies and I don’t want to miss out. My ducklings were so tiny first day then days later big they grow too fast ! Lol. So when I get back I’m getting eggs immediately to get in the incubator im super anxious to hatch. Good luck with baby sitter I’m sure hearing how much you want this they will do it right : )

It’s my younger cousin so he better do a good job because he’s stuck with me haha! I’m going to have him over this weekend hopefully to show him allll the ins and outs of everything. I’ll only be gone Friday morning- Monday evening so I’m hoping he can manage those days. What incubator do you use? The one I’m using must be pretty good because these eggs were not stored correctly or collected and brought inside. I collected them all in a fog and they even had to sit for a day before everything got delivered. If at the end of this I get ducklings I would highly recommend my model! I could send you a link (I posted the link for my incubator and candler in my initial post I think) the candler is SO nice and bright and he’s a really nice rubbery plastic piece to go over the light so it’s not hard on the eggs at all and you don’t run the risk of an accidental crack. The light beam is also concentrated so you see so much

That’s awesome you had so many I only had five to work with. We got an incubator right away that I love Andy it has great reviews. I’ll have to look at your candling piece because I used a flashlight with tape on end it was okay every candling was a yolk though but if there was movement I would want to see as much as possible . I attached a pic all my eggs looked like this but my candling I could get a better candler for sure

These are my five eggs and the five air sacks... does this look good? )I must’ve taken a photo of one of them twice) they’re getting very big and the veining is growing! When you take the other eggs out should you increase temp? My temp dropped a bit again.. not sure if it has anything to do with NJs crazy temps we’ve been having. It was pretty chilly today

Weekend went so well! I was thinking “how are these blood vessel things gonna cover the whole egg?????” And to my surprise, the whole egg is covered now and the black embryo inside is HUGE! Air sacks look like they’re a good size and I’m on day 14!!!! My friend came over to see them last night and was like “colleen, why do you have written down that you only have five? There are 6 in here” and in my frenzy of counting and making sure temp / humidity is all good I was totally miscounting again and again! Talk about a brain fart but a great one! So I have 6 little eggs dancing around!!! I’m leaving on Friday for a wedding over the weekend and teaching my house sitter how to care for them when I’m gone. I’m nervous but I’m hoping they’re stable enough right now so that nothing will happen while I’m away as long as my house sitter follows the instructions, fingers crossed another 14 days and the babies will be here! I

They really only need to be turned 2 or 3 times a day..Best wishes on your hatch..

I’m gonna tell my house sitter (he’s my younger cousin so I trust him) 3x a day and I just have dots on one side and I might put an x in the other just so he knows to let them sleep on alternate sides every night. I’ve been candling way less because it’s getting much darker in there and harder to see but when I do they squiggle around! I can’t believe I was so caught up in the stress I missed the fact I miscounted my eggs and have six instead of five!!

And thank you so much for all of your help with this whole process. If this works and I get second generation ducklings I will have all of everyone’s help here to thank and that means the world to me. Can’t thank you enough :love
Your very Welcome...:frow
I wish you the best with the hatch..:wee
