First Hatch-a-long! November 2021!

Day 22 and we have had 3 hatches so far, with 2 pipped.

Brahma A, Silkie A, and Silkie D (the dark one). Brahma B has been pipped since yesterday but no progress and Silkie B pipped this afternoon. Still no pics from Silkie C and Silkie E. Makes me anxious! I hope they're OK. 🙏

Silkie B and Brahma B hatched within minutes of one another on day 22. Silkie B has all black skin and beak and is more of a brown and black than Silkie D which has pink skin and white/yellow patches. Silkie E also finally pipped! Just hoping to see a pip on Silkie C, the last egg.

Enjoy their beautiful fluff "fresh 48" photos.

They are all very healthy and vocal. Moved to the brooder this afternoon and introduced to water/food.

3 dark Silkies, 1 light silkie, 2 light brahma...

Silkie A is a light silver/cream.

Silkie B is black skin and a black/brown mottled fluff.

Silkie D is the smallest/runt with pink skin and black fluff that has white patches on the wings and butt and a tan spot above the beak.

Silkie E is all black skin and fluff with a grey spot on the chest and a few silver streaks peppered in all over.

Brahma A is the biggest with very light yellow fluff.

Brahma B is slightly smaller than A and also yellow but not as light, it has a darker spot around the neck.

They love snuggles and if I stick my arm in the brooder box they come running already. Brahma A actually wouldn't even go in the box, it kept trying to climb into my hand. 😍🐣

Sadly, Silkie C was not alive or viable for hatch so it was time to move forward. I candled it and saw no movement or veins, and looks like the membranes were drying out. Its unfortunate, but 6/7 hatched and after arriving broken and saddled air cells etc, I'm truly happy with the outcome.
