Another month another hatch!
I currently have some F1 and BC olive eggers due to hatch around November 7th although sadly, the incubator was unplugged so I have lost a few. I also put 17 Marans eggs (Blue/Black/Splash copper) into a different incubator to test fertility, hard to see in but could see one of the lighter ones developing. I also have 24 more Marans I purchased coming in the mail. 12 Birchen and 12 project Silver Cuckoo, I may get some single barred males and Birchen out of them. I'm holding off adding more OE but may add more of my Marans pending this test

What you're doing sounds so exciting and intensive! ☺️

I am just getting into color genetics for silkies and will have mature ones this spring. Next, I'm going to try get into cuckoo silkies. There isn't as much info on those nor does the breeder I have within an hour's drive have them either.

I should have posted an October HatchAlong as I've got 8 fancy silkie eggs I bought incubating that are due in 5 days. Hoping for a buff or two that I don't have in these. ☺️

Good luck with your hatch!!

My first lot of eggs go into lockdown today. Candled my second lot of Marans and had lots of clears again, it seems he may only be servicing one Marans and picked other favourites being my blue layers and Barnevelder.

Of the shipped Marans eggs I lost 3 in transport and all bar one of those have developed, so at least I'll have plenty to start new pens

4 olive eggers and a splash Marans so far.. This is my second back cross OE to hatch with a single comb

I've got some quail eggs set to hatch next week - would it be reasonable for me to join this thread? I've never done a hatch-a-long and while I *did* read the FAQ, I figured it would be best to ask...

I'm hoping our very broody Buff Orpington -Noisy Girl stays, tomorrow (Nov11) is one week, she's had eggs and tomorrow we get fertilized eggs from a friend (Black Australorp rooster that we reered, and a BO hen) I tried three times to put her in broody jail pen (as I had two go broody at same time) and she was determined every time to get back to the nest. I left her feeling she'd hurt herself otherwise.

She's been tending to non fertile eggs that I've been switching every morning with fresh eggs from out other hens. I talk, pet, and reach under all my hens to get them used to me. I tell them all they make such pretty eggs as I collect and they all chatter to me.

My dad has an incubator I can borrow just in case but she's been sitting outside in nest box (it's in our pen that is locked up and attached to the coop.) Since Monday night. I tried removing her from nest Sunday and she got so pissed at me lol

Couple photos for now! (The outside photos are from last Sat when I first noticed her broody behavior, the next day she was neat bound lol)

If I place eggs under her tomorrow Sat Nov 11 that starts the counter yes? (So say 1 would be Nice 12?)
