I don’t think the last egg is going to hatch. While I saw movement a few days ago, there was none last night and I think I see a blood ring.

:hit

Yep, sorry. Looks like a goner. :hit

Sometimes with late quitters, just moving the egg around causes things to shift and can appear as movement. I try to hold it really still, and wait for any type of movement that I couldn't have created.

In happier news, here’s a sweet photo of the little ones. Cannot believe how much they’ve grown in a week!

We may round out our little “flock” with another duckling ... Would it be best to get 1 or 2 together? I’m worried about the two older ducklings (now 10 days) ganging up on a day-old. Maybe I’m being overly cautious and dramatic?

I only have one heat source, so they’ll all need to be in the same brooder ... Is this a recipe for disaster?

Get 2 and divide your brooder in half so they can share the heat source and get use to each other then when new ducklings are close to a week old and more sturdy try them all together. More than likely being side by side they will be ready to be together pretty quick just want to give the littlest ones time to get a little sturdy.

Those babies are precious.

So I’m pretty sure I blinked and these two doubled in size! I can’t believe how big they’re getting ... They’ll be two weeks between Saturday and Sunday!

Ordered a large square kiddie pool and folding dog fence with a little door so they can grow into a larger space in the garage. I love having them right in the kitchen so I can spend lots of time together, but their little storage tote is getting ... little!

PS: Don’t judge the mess, this was taken post-work and commute and pre-brooder cleanout. I’ve been scooping shavings twice and changing food and water three times daily.

They grow like gangbusters, don't they? :D
Very cute!! :love
And for all we know, you could have just changed the bedding, turned around to get the camera out and it's already a mess. We know ducklings. :gig
