Thanks guys, you’re too sweet! It’s so nice to have things getting closer to being done.

We still have a giant hole to dig so we can properly set up the pond. In the meantime I added this soft sided bucket to help keep the ducks cool (still 95+ around here!)

Two can fit at a time and it’s pretty cute.

They also finally figured out how to use the treadle feeder, which is awesome!

Next challenge: the hanging nipple waterer - Wish us all luck!

They are so pretty!

FYI, ducks can learn to use nipple waterers, but they really need to be able to dunk their whole bill under water. They may use the nipples to drink, but most likely their pools will stay filthy with food because they will clean their nares in it.

Thanks @WVduckchick! I saw the nipple waterer where I got them as babies and thought it was nifty. I plan on keeping the bucket in their pen so they can dunk their heads until we have the pond installed. Just knowing they have water that they can’t splash out makes me feel better during the day. It seems the bucket becomes an exciting toy while I’m gone and I worry they’ll splash all the water out having fun and leave themselves nothing to drink!

I’m such the worried new mom. I’m sure everything will be fine and the local farm store is just taking me for all I’ve got!

We’ve been working away in the backyard, so so so busy these past several weeks

There’s also been quite the heatwave here in Oregon, 90+ for as long as we’ve been landscaping - Talk about bad timing!

I’ve gotten lazy from all the heat so we figured out a new way to keep the ducks cool ... The garden hose! Makes me really consider those mister things I always see at the farm store ...

I was thinking about getting them a sprinkler and putting it on a timer for when I’m at work! Seeing all of yours out and about makes me so happy @WVduckchick!
