My DH totalled a highway patrol car while he was in high school....for following to closely. He was in a pickup truck without a tailgate and the "highpo" was so close he couldn't see the headlights. (Highpo was pulling him over for speeding which he was). Tapped the breaks, felt contact, then mashed them. Highpo engine went in the passenger seat, electronics went out the rear window.....DH spent the night in jail and in court the next morning asked the judge where his parents were (he was a minor). Highpo failed to mirandize him AND failed to notify the parents of a minor of his arrest. Judge seized the badge in the court room and threw out everything including the speeding ticket which DH admitted he deserved and was willing to pay.View attachment 3182006Tax: sunbathing Cuckoo
Glad to hear hubby was ok and maybe learned a little something about speeding and tailgating? :fl;)

While we are confessing such things, I too had a run in with a police car in my misspent youth.
I was going 15mph around a very narrow blind bend with cars parked on either side in a 30mph area.
Cop came from the opposite direction doing around 30mph into the blind bend.
We hit head on.
I was driving a very old car (1955 era) that was built like a tank. I had a small chip on my paintwork - easily solved with a touch of vaseline - but it was a classic car and I was a bit upset at the damage. The cop was unable to leave the scene because my tank of a car had crumpled his entire front.
Naturally they tried to throw the book at me.
No seat belts - true, but cars prior to I think 1962 were exempt because there is nowhere to anchor the belts.
No turn signal - untrue, but you have to know that the turn signal is a manual knob that you rotate depending on the direction.
They had a page of points like the above having impounded my car overnight to search for faults.
You don't drive a car of that vintage and not have it in tip top shape so I managed to dismiss each of the supposed faults.
I felt bad for the officer. Poor guy, he wasn't happy seeing me pick the car up from the police pound. On the other hand, just because the speed limit is 30mph doesn't mean it is smart to drive at 30mph when you cannot see ahead of you.
Sooo.... they did the wrong thing and tried to blame it on you? :smack

Dammit! As I try to tell everyone, the law is the law. And officer’s are no exception! I hope that that officer lost his badge for that stunt. 👮‍♂️

I know many places have minimum speeds posted. I'm glad Montana doesn't. Blizzards are one of the hazards to that, as are icy roads, wildlife on the road (or someone moving livestock on a back road). I've seen a few storms where 25mph on the interstate (posted 80mph, 65mph for semi/lorry) is too fast. I'm also glad that most drivers here DO slow down, take their time, and plan on leaving earlier during that kind of weather.

Weather tax: they've figured out the tires all have water in them

On a brighter note: I felt something at my feet this morning. Seems that Jaffar had left the chickens room, and jumped up on my bed (in daddy’s room) he’s such a good rooster that I just held my hand out, he jumped up on it, and we had a beautiful morning snuggle (with waddle petting) He likes that! Then I took him out to the coop, where he started his 05:30 crowing.
ITS A BEAUTIFUL MORNING! :love :love:love
