Yes, I’m up early. But I picked up my guitar, and played a little song for my Shenandoah. She’s so lovely. And she listens to every song
I sing to her. It’s early, but she doesn’t seem to mind at all.

Awww that's so sweet they are looking to you as the protectorToday they ventured to the other side of the yard and hung out under the lilac bush for a while. That's quite an accomplishment after the last few days of voluntary lockdown. They still want one of us "big people" with them before they will come out, though.
That's a good life story, one where 'if life gives you lemons, make lemonade'sOpening my heart here: I had a fairly good marriage. But when things got crazy, I lost everything that I thought I had. I was able to keep what I needed. X got the beachfront property, all the cars and even my children and my dog. Same story for every divorce (man’s opinion) but instead of crying about it, I pooled my resources, and bought some stock in a little company at the time, called Google. The rest is history. Now today, my retirement has been a wonderful time. I was thinkingwhat do I need now? Answer: leave Washington DC , go to California, buy a farm, get some chickens, make new friends, and forget everything about the past (because hurt, hurts) yah, sometimes I think about my x but memories do fade away with time. At least the bad ones do. And I’m better off at life now than I have ever been! In conclusion, my friends, follow your dreams. Make your dreams come true. Don’t wait for the golden goose, be happy with this: View attachment 3184581

Marvelous!Trying to make the deadline and stay within the 3 picture limit....
This seems to be my best group picture of the Elements. They don't stay still and they are a bit reclusive these days due to hawks.

You can't see the cat he's busy rubbing up the dog
I feel like being a lone hen she was likely desperate to procreate. The poor thing. Hence her broodies and viciousness when broody even today.Ok sorry I was confused. Yes you are right, too much time had passed and the first group she hatched came from eggs from a friend with a mixed flock. She mainly had easter eggers and wyandottes. Her boys were wyandottes so I always assumed Toothless and Henrietta were EE x Wyandotte crosses. I've always wondered given just how broody Momma Hen is if she had tried to hatch chicks on the hill somewhere when she had her original mate with her. Before he died though when you would catch a glimpse of them I never saw any chicks.
