Tonight's Roosting

I won't catch up tonight but here is an update on Gucci.
she did not make it up to the coop tonight and the others left her downstairs alone.

So I went out and gave her a ride up.

I put her on the low roost.

As to the length of her legs, I looked up at my BYC calendar today and saw this.

Look at the set of gams on that Buff Laced Polish compared to that Silver Laced! I'm going to reach out to MCW and see if Pearl had any leg issues when growing up. Who knows?
Is she ok from her run in with the hardware cloth? She looks good 👍

You know my silkies where the same way with roosting. And poor wee Marty is never going to make it up there I a just as happy she stays in her nest box safe. Was Gucci at all fretting with being left behind?

Hey everyone. We are finally home, she ended up having surgery this afternoon to put a plate in. I figured she would need surgery but I was thinking more like tomorrow or Wednesday. She was not happy and at one point I thought I would have to tie her down to the bed. She was not prepared to hear surgery this morning and her anxiety kicked into high gear. She is resting now but is as hateful as a black snake. I'll take it though because the worst is now behind us. This will take 2 to 3 months to fully heal and she is not allowed back on the horse until then.
I'm so happy that she is fixed and on the mend. It was better to fix it now and not wait. 2 to 3 months is going to be a long time to not ride. She's going to be cranky for a long time. Good luck.

That is a Monday and a Friday picture all in one!

The ac is running! Turns out that the new motor that i installed Saturday was bad.
I'm happy it turned out to be only this, quite a lot of money saved !
Ok - how do I search by persons name? For comments?
While looking at a thread, click on the search icon above the thread, chose to search "in this thread" and write the member name. Then you have to order the results by date. Otherwise you can just click on the person's name, and then on "posts".

I just heard the news about the fires in Europe - including France & Spain. I hope you @ManueB are safe!

@Marie2020 @Shadrach and anyone else there or here with extreme heat: please be careful, drink lots of fluid, and try to keep yourselves and your 2 & 4 legged friends safe:hugs:hugs:love:love:hugs:hugs
Thank you, I'm very far from where the fires are right now. Like many we're worried for the summer, with so much heat and so little rain.

I've also been in that unpleasant situation with Loz.

I think reading the latest posts from someone's profile is one way to avoid it. Another way, I and several other people used to read from where we left off, reading every post before writing our replies. A third way, if the urge to reply really can't be overcome, is to do what Michelle does, and include a message of hope that it all worked out in your first reply, eg, "Oh no! I hope to read later that it all turned out ok."

The SHRA tax is an attempt to encourage attentiveness to each other, so big events are not overlooked.

And it was effective for a while, we were attentive to each other on Bob's thread, which had a flipside of trying to make only 3-4 daily posts to keep everything readable in a 20-30 minute window, and preferably with a heavy focus on Bob's flock.

Now it's mostly chatter, which is fine (although there is the BYC Cafe thread dedicated to chatter) and news of Bob's chickens is not easy to track down on this thread, which he created for his chicken stories (this is explained in the first post he ever made). I may start reading posts from his profile like I do with RC. Bob would never point these things out because of his heightened capacities for hospitality and kindness. I know he'll forgive me, at the same time I acknowledge that he seems to be at ease with how things are here now.

I'll just have to get used to feeling my distaste for ignoring others.

Manue, if you started a thread for your own flock, I would follow it and make comments if I had something to say. Just tag me and I'll join in.
Part of it I suppose, comes from the fact that a forum isn't always adapted to many people interacting both at similar and disjointed times. But sometimes discussions off topic can be interesting as well.

I'm very much guilty of chatter, though more on shadrach's thread, I'm afraid. I have been indeed thinking of starting my own since I blurb so much about my chickens, but then I tell myself that if I'm going to spend more time on BYC I should be reading other threads from people who know way more about chickens than I do 🤔.

Yesterday attempted mugshots as tax. I finally succeeded an getting two that weren't blurry. It's a difficult excercise! Brune and Blanche.

Your English is wonderful, and your written English also. I was going to ask how you learnt such good English!
I spent my fourth grade (year 5 for Brits) in NY at PS84 and my 11th grade (y 12) at Berkeley High 😁, and in France attended an international junior and senior high school. So not much too do with talent and everything with privilege but these were great, mind opening experiences!
