1 older roo, help raise the younger....problem, keep losing older roo.

Roo history:

Buster: Silver laced wyandotte, raised with Silver, killed/taken by fox family just before big/late snow storm. Put up a fight as feathers were everywhere. (2 years old)

Rusty: poorly colored Jersey Giant (beautiful boy, in profile pic), raised with Pear, killed by marauding dog, again kicked up fight. (10 months old when Buster killed, 13 months when killed) (brother Raven rehomed a month before Buster killed, currently king of his tribe, defended against dog (different dog) attack long enough for owners to get out there and remove dog, backed up by juveniles:new Hampshire (now has own tribe) and 2 polish, still there)

Cheetah, raised with rest of adult girls, 13 weeks old when Rusty killed, currently 14 months old. (If he makes it through next summer, we should be doing well)

Hector, Horus (son of Cheetah and Nellie), Whiskey, Kren (W&K sons of 3/4 year old roo and hens from MIL tribe so hopeully inheirited some of the survival wisdom): junior roos hopefully learning how to be good boys, currently going through the "randy idiot" phase, ages 20 weeks and 12 weeks.
You do need that senior roo to teach everyone else. Hopefully you can keep Cheetah around for a while.

OK, so this is funny. My husband keeps telling people we’re gonna do this and we’re gonna do that on the house that we just bought. You know that I just bought the house we’ve been renting for 13 years, right? Well my husband loves to say we’re gonna push the house out 8 feet in the front, we’re gonna put a master suite above the garage, we’re going to add an accessory dwelling unit, etc. etc. etc. Well, I’ve recently been telling people we’re going to build a second coop and start rescuing roosters! You should’ve seen his face when I said that! God it was funny!
That is so awesome of you! Poor roosters.

@RebeccaBoyd I just saw the news...I'm hoping you are still safe. @GregnLety , hope your kin are okay, too! Flooding in Kentucky, Horrible wildfires in CA, super heat waves across the country...OMG, Mother Earth 🌎 must be hitting menopause & having hot flashes! Seriously, though, this severe weather & 'once in a century that are happening every 5 years storms' is getting very scary.

Hope all of you wherever you are, are safe!:hugs:hugs:hugs [🐔🐓🐣chooks included]
I hate to say it but things are pretty darn nice here now that we have gotten some consistent rain.

I was thinking two thin long stretches would work along the narrow part, the inner sides meeting around the trees!
Yes something like that, but I want them to have access to the barn…. But need to keep that darn green farm gate handy… chickens! Who knew they would be as time consuming as the horses!

Speaking of which I better get chores done if I want to go check out that Roo!

Awww grandpa's princess! Are you going to convert her into a chicken lady? I think she should have her own little flock to start with. Does she have an interest yet? Can your daughter have hens?
At the moment Anna and Angela live in an apartment where Angela is a manager. I thought I might have heard a chicken in Kathy's neighborhood. I can ask her neighbors who have lived there for decades. Nona, Kathy's older dog has an unhealthy obsession with chickens though. Anna keeps trying to take Nino home, Nino is a Shihtzu and my baby. She could easily be a farm girl with little effort. She loves gathering eggs and feeding the chooks.

Warning rant approaching:
Some people never change (but need to) as I stated earlier, they stay up late playing scrabble. Well, Bill had too many beers last night. My cousin was embarrassed by his actions. I felt like a third wheel and said I need to rest. So I went to the spare room. Bill isn’t the violent type, he’s just a little stupid. All I can really do, is wish them well. I’m leaving for home earlier than expected today. My brother isn’t home in Seattle. He’s still on the yacht with his wife and puppy dogs. (Must be nice to take a month long vacation)!
Rant over. Tax forthcoming.
:hugs

FOMO - (Fear Of Missing Out) seems to be part of the Chicken Personal Code To Live By!
Oh, thank you for educating me on FOMO. To be honest, it took me a long time to realize DH = husband. I suppose D is dear? (I've thought about damn too) Many times I just don't google because if I google for a quick answer, I forget it fast.
