I'm such an easy pushover.
Moon has been out with her tribe on and off for a couple of days now. She's still doing the I'm broody bit but she isn't sitting around in an empty nest which is good.
She slips into the house regularly throughout the day though and the past couple of nights has shown no interest in going back to the coop with the others.
She's taken to jumping on to the back of my chair if I'm sitting at the computer and today she made her way on to my lap.:love
In the evenings at roost time she sits on the edge of the nest box watching as I prepare supper and clean up. Tonight I did finally steel myself to put her in the coop but honestly, how could you throw someone out who looks like this?

Moon is having some problems with Mel. It seems from watching Mel before when Tackle was broody that Mel thinks she should be the one in the tribe who sits and hatches. Normally this would fall to the most senior hen but Fat Bird is out of the running. Since the death of Ruffles this leaves Mel a second senior.
Moon is still acting broody although she doesn't have any eggs. Mel went for a full on ground scratching flying attack today; twice!
Moon is the most junior.
During the second attack from Mel, Moon jumped onto the back of my chair and stayed there for quite some time. She's in with me tonight in the nest box which is empty. I think, as soon as she stops showing broody behaviour Mel will leave her alone.

Where does Moon come from in your naming series? I don’t recall a Sun or a Star in your flock.

Every time I push Phyllis out of the house I feel the same way. They are too precious to force them to leave. :love

Aurora is Laying Around

I watched this develop earlier today. Hattie was laying, so were Lilly and Aurora. :lau

I am wondering if Aurora is staying up too late, has learned the benefit of a nap from Lilly, or is just keeping the old lady company. I will say this, the littles did not slow down for those two.
