Much to the distress of the Princesses I sat out in their field listening to the hawk and playing recordings of hawks from the Cornell website.
We have a match.
It is a Juvenile Red Tailed Hawk.
I didn’t see him/her but the cry is an exact match.
It seems to be setting up house in the area. Grrr.
In good news all the chickens recognize the call and stay under cover.

It is 95F/35C in the shade. The human servant is getting heat stroke as she runs back and forth with ice for the waterers.
She has opened a patio umbrella to create extra shade to supplement the trees, shrubs, and roofed parts of the run.
So what is a poor chicken to do?

View attachment 3217137sunbathe of course!

Hope I did the spoiler right.
Crazy chickens. Just crazy. It rained here again. Was up to 98°F (37°C) with a heat index around 110°F (43°C). Now it's 82°F (27°C).

Hot chickens tax
