Amazing how they are when they are a bit older and settled down!!!!
I keep that image in mind when dealing with the idiot phase. Opened the coop this morning, shoved Hector out with the rest who left immediately, then closed the door in the boys faces so the poor girls who have taken to staying roosted to avoid harassment could have a good breakfast and drink before opening it up so the rest could have access too. Thing drank a ton of water, Cuckoo laid her egg and Jess inhaled food alongside all 5 of Hector's girls and the golden girls, Pippa and Maizie. Lark and Indigo flew out with everyone this morning so got stuck running from the 2 biggest Idiots.

Lark, last night eating from a handful I set up there. She's popped her wattles, so I'm expecting her to start laying soonish.

Nox and Mera have their wattles (Mera moreso) but no eggs yet, unless they've hidden them outside somewhere. Asphodel's are beginning, with the other 2 holding back a bit. Once all the girls are laying, I'm hoping some of the Idiot behavior dies down a bit or winter is going to be LONG.

Pony Sunday

I am again hiding in the barn today, my mum keeps going off on a tangent stating she has a head cold and what do people know anyways, blah blah blah. Oh course I had to throw my opinion in and told her it was likely Covid as that was the majority of respiratory virus going around right now…. Bad Kelly!!! Got yelled at and told off, so I beat a hasty retreat to the barn hahaha.

I need a fridge, kettle and microwave out here and I could just stay out here! 😆

Playing with my chickies and ponies, enjoying the Barn Swallows and no one yelling at me 😊

I took these photos yesterday of the gals just hanging out in the shade

Yes, Aurora saved the day. Someone was going to get hurt very badly if she didn't see the hawk.
When I was watching videos of the farm I ordered my chickies from and I remember in one of the videos they were battling hawks. They were hanging mylar streamers like what those party balloons are made of. They were saying that the reflection from the sun on the mylar helps to keep hawks at bay. I noted this for later because I hope to free range once my crew is full grown. I figured I could tie some to the trees where they roamed the most. Run it between fence posts ect. Its inexpensive and maybe it could help assuming you haven’t already tried this of course.

It really too bad you can’t geld them like horses. Makes such a big difference!

No use having a clean car 🚗. Dust is on everything, and I need to seal up the house (close windows, hang sheets over the intake fans, cover anything that I don’t want to have dust on) they shake the trees usually 2 days. And so starts my respiratory problems!!!
Dust tax:

Wow. Why is shaking almonds such a dusty process? I can't even imagine how they do it!
