I think Jabber may just be a lunatic. He is crowing in the middle of the night. He was crowing at 3 am last night. If he keeps this up I think the girls may just take him out due to sleep deprivation. I keep picturing Patsy trying his beak shut while the other girls hold him down.

After a week of single digit temps we went over 40° today. There was enough snow melt for my "snow-phobic" hens to free range today. So I let them out and they just about trample me. I can almost make out Jabber saying "ladies! ladies! one at a time". I look out 5 min later and no sign of Hattie. I check the camera and the poor girl has to lay her egg. She is going to miss some of the best free range time until possibly March. Bad timing.

That's how I read it too!:lau
Sorry you are sick.:(
Thanks, already feeling better. Back to work tomorrow.

They wore me down and got mealy worms, cracked corn, and fresh pasta (one of their favorites). I fed them at least 6 times today.

:th:confused:

Jabber decided to try and let me know he was boss of the flock this morning when I left them out to free range. He got his feathers deflated very quickly. Pushed him around the yard for a little bit to remind him of his place.

Interesting idea. I haven't seen anything on camera but I'll look the coop over today.

He crowed all night last night. I assumed he needed to sleep at some point. Of course he has crowed all morning as well and they are free ranging.

Could be seasonal? The increasing daylight seems to be affecting my birds.
