@knoturavggrl I finally got pictures of mine for you that are about a week behind yours, age-wise.

Hopefully the pictures are clear enough for you to see the difference in 'drapiness' & 'pointiness' of saddle feathers, BTW, I don't find hackle feathers a true indicator at this age, as both have 'semi-pointy/semi-round', and it is harder to tell. (Mostly, because at this age, all have generally narrower hackle feathers, so , depending on the chick, it may be hard to tell.)

She has slightly drapey saddle feathers, but they are 'full' and blunt/rounded ends. Very much a 'SHE' despite her having one longish arched tail feather.

HE definitely has drapey saddle feathers, and the ones just behind the wing feathers are definitely pointy as opposed to blunt shaped on the end.

This one also has some drape, and an arched tail feather like a Roo would. Look at it's saddle feathers and tell me what you think it is. Cockerel or pullet?
Id say #3 is most likely a pullet as those saddle feathers are still rounded and not at all pointy. From what you say and what I have read tail feathers should be ignored at this age for sexing completely.

Thank you for the pictures it means a lot that took time to take them for me :) I lurk on the breed / sexing forum to learn and its fun to guess. I went from no dang clue to being in-line with the other guessers almost 95% of the time. Its been fun to learn. Breeds are much much harder.

Your babies though are challenging though goodness me definitely cant just look at the comb/wattle development to tell!

They are all lovely, but I particularly love the chicken in the first picture. So pretty!
Awwll. That is Peanut Butter, the Amerucana, she is small and skittish and fast as lightening. I also love her dark blue feathers and her fuzzy face. She is my daughters favorite chick.
Hmmmm, are you secretly Elvira or Morticia? I'm sensing an obsession with black....black cats, black chickens..... I"m SO GLAD you don't also have a 'black mood' :gig :gig

Seriously, though, you are right, the hen in the first picture is beautiful🥰, but I'm a bit smitten with those in the last pic. Especially the gentleman who asked to peck and explore my leg before barging in!😍:love 😍
Oh that gorgeous boy Pecan! He has always been bold and curious but lately he has been more forward then I am completely comfortable with and has really been pushing it with the pecking. I think starting this evening he will get picked up whenever he gets overzealous on the pecking front. Maybe we can nip this before he his gets full on feisty Roo on me! I really do want to keep him and Oreo as Id like to free range them once they grow up. I think Roosters play a very important part particularly in a free ranging flock.
Hi :frow (I’m a good looking guy)

What he lacks in stature, he makes up for in personality! He’s such a good rooster!

I feed coarse crumble, and in the mornings I feed it as a wet mash, I use hot water so that it’s warm. My kiddos go bonkers for it and actually wait for me to serve it up 😁

Heaven help me if I don’t have it ready for them!
I started doing this as well when the babies went out to the coop, I figured it would take the chill out of em the first few mornings.
Well, I am still doing it and now I am slightly afraid to stop. They all line up and stare me down while I open the door to go in with it. I dont think I need to find out what would happen if I showed up without anything!
