Bird netting can be really nasty.

When we first had chickens I used bird netting over their run to stop them getting out.

Unfortunately a rosella got tangled in it and strangled itself in an attempt to be free. 😢

The second time this happened I got rid of the netting...
That's sad. I bet that was hard to accept. :hugs :hugs

Whew, glad your thread isn’t as long as @BY Bob ’s! There was an awful lot going on, it’s a bit overwhelming! I’ve got some thrush cream, I thought I saw 1ml three times a day? Apple cider vinegar, 1 tablespoon per gallon? Do I need to stop the layer feed?

Have you determined that River does indeed gave sour crop, Lozzy? For some reason, I thought I only did the cream twice a day. What is the active ingredient and percentage? I might be able to find dosing info. Do you know how much she weighs?

Yes ACV is 1 tbsp per gallon. I personally would not stop layer feed yet. Is she laying? If she is definitely not laying, you could substitute some other foods (kale, meat, egg, a tiny bit of unsweetened yogurt) for a couple days, but a girl’s gotta eat to maintain her energy. I find their crop sometimes slows down during molt when they like to starve themselves.

Shad has good advice on handling often. It always seems the most difficult to handle get sick! Also good advice on seeking avian vet help if that’s an option. Do you not want to post in the emergency forum?

Also, how is her behavior, appetite, etc? And have you checked for crop function? I don’t know that I’d start treatment unless I knew what I was treating for.

Aw! Poor thing! Was she scared stuck like that?
Uuummmm, not sure... but it was sweet.. cuz she was calling out which was clearly not a typical hen sound.. and when I got there she tried walking toward me :love ... I think she might have said something like... Aaaahh, the ugly female “rooster” has come to save me!:gig

Phyllis moves to intercept position

And then my phone rings! :barnie

Mr. Squirrel jumps down and Phyllis chases him up the magnolia tree. He hides in the magnolia tree for a while and then scampers out of the yard.

Baby Pictures

Hattie was born July 16, 2018. I was going through old pictures this morning and I found some of her chick pictures. I'm going to share some today but I think moving forward I'm going to start celebrating everyone's birthday's with baby photos. Therefore I'm going to save some for her actual birthday. I'll have to celebrate Lilly on the anniversary of when she came to live with us.

Here's Hattie
