That was two days worth from my ladies. :D :drool
No way!
Yea, that’s what I’ve been trying to tell everyone who think I’m crazy cuz I want more chickens... you need at least thirty chickens if you want to sell or give any away! Cuz we eat a ton of eggs so I’m not getting enough to give away regularly... especially since I’ve started giving a raw egg to the dogs and cats every day...

I started 3 years ago with 4 baby chicks (female) and now I have 32 birds, 29 hens and 2 roosters. If you count BLU my avatar roo then three roos.:loveAnd I love all of them very much.

Lilly is a complex lady and as such is interested in how to best run her flock. Any enjoyable treatises on how to best organize a society and most importantly, maintain order, are of interest to her.

Knowing that, Mr. Bunny suggested the book.
Lets all hope she doesn't discover Orwell's 'Animal Farm'! I would fear for your flock if she did!!

Have you determined that River does indeed gave sour crop, Lozzy? For some reason, I thought I only did the cream twice a day. What is the active ingredient and percentage? I might be able to find dosing info. Do you know how much she weighs?

Yes ACV is 1 tbsp per gallon. I personally would not stop layer feed yet. Is she laying? If she is definitely not laying, you could substitute some other foods (kale, meat, egg, a tiny bit of unsweetened yogurt) for a couple days, but a girl’s gotta eat to maintain her energy. I find their crop sometimes slows down during molt when they like to starve themselves.

Shad has good advice on handling often. It always seems the most difficult to handle get sick! Also good advice on seeking avian vet help if that’s an option. Do you not want to post in the emergency forum?

Also, how is her behavior, appetite, etc? And have you checked for crop function? I don’t know that I’d start treatment unless I knew what I was treating for.

I’m about to go out and check everyone’s crop. I haven’t posted on the ER thread as there’s already lots of threads about sour crop and the advice is about the same. I may do so once I’ve checked. Plus 1ml is quite a lot, did I read that wrong? I’ve got a slender syringe that’s half a millilitre and it’s quite long; if I’m depositing 1ml under her tongue, thanks going to take a while!

Sorry, I hadn’t absorbed all your message before I responded. The active ingredient is clotrimazole and it is 100 mg/g, it doesn’t give a percentage.

I do have access to an avian vet but since I spent around $700.00 trying to save Chickie, I am anxious to try and avoid a vet visit if it’s something I can fix.
