I love my chickens! They could be the best thing that has ever happened to me.

They were free ranging almost all day today so I thought I won't make them their regular dinner. Well, at 5pm, I opened the back door, they ALL flew to me looking completely adorable and asking me where is their dinner. So I gave them a can of sardines (yes I like it too so yummy) and wheat bran soaked in milk. 😊 They were satisfied.

Some butts that I captured yesterday:

Foxy (she is getting huge, 5 month old, bigger than most adults)

Wonderful. 🥰

I like the idea

And I have given it some deep thought today while I was ‘working hard’ at not rolling my eyes (you know…), anywhoooo I want to take a side silhouette of the chooks and put them directly on the wall of the hen house near the top of the wall. All in a row like a border - I need to paint the walls first though. Thinking a darker colour and the silhouettes a lighter colour. The two colours not a few shades off from one another.

This requires a bit more thought and paint swatches, I think a trip to Home Depot on Monday is in order to check out paint, the kind with low volatile gases so I can paint this time of the year, might have to house the kiddos in a stall for a week or so though. Do t want paint fumes to harm them.
I love this idea. I can't wait to see you execute it.

I love this! In all honesty, I always wanted to Jubilee Orpington one day. But I have little Mill who looks similar and iso a speckled Sussex. She’s also very special!
Little Mill is a darling hen. She was one of the things that led me to Lady Featherington. I love her coloring.

Hmmm it’s inside so not worried about longevity- also odour needs to be taken into account.
You could try all natural pigments paint, or the paints used for beehives. Both have (nearly) no smell. Natural paint is a bit more difficult to apply, beehive paint is very forgiving and lasting. Both are a lot more expensive than plain paint though.

I
Ok FBA people I have had a crazy day ending with a $500+ plumbing bill 😟

I have fed the horses, checked the chickies (Curly is back roosting with her sisters in the nest box thankfully), and I am pooped.

See you all tomorrow!

Good night tax

Hope they fixed your well issue. Cost 2 grand for my submersible pump a few years ago. Repairs get expensive fast.
