Since Mr P arrived here and Marty has joined forces with him, she has become quite bold. But she only picks on the other silkies (her size you know). A few times she went after Dorothy when she first started molting.

But since Fluffy has been broody she has been a grumpy old thing. I dragged her and Henny off the nest to get some exercise and dust bathing, I am betting that she and Marty crossed dust bath paths and that started it.

Fluffy got a scratch on her face, but otherwise she is ok. I plopped her and Henny back on their golf balls.

Scary! I have never seen anything like that. I mean where others join in the fight between two of them.
I assume you just had to stand back and watch rather than try to intervene?

I was afraid for my life to intervene!



Seriously though, I don’t get involved, they need to figure it out themselves, like kids…

And caviar. And I remember we discussed cooking bacon in the oven after you had a bit of a fire accident.
And I vaguely remember a burger.

Oooooo bacon! Mmmm me and the chickies love bacon!

I have to beat them off with a stick when I eat bacon out here!

I was thinking of taping it, but for me violence and drama are so stressful I don’t like to even think of it.

But for interest and knowledge sack next time I’ll tape it - likely there are those who have never seen hens brawling. It’s not as dramatic as the boys, and once it’s over it’s over. And only lasts a couple seconds.

My younge cockerels I had here just would t back down! I can see how they would fight to the death.

But when Penelope started to try to break up the fights and a started to get dragged into the fights I knew I had to get rid of them

She is too old to be doing those things.

I don’t see much drama here thankfully, the silkies are the big instigators, they look so cute and tiny, but they are little hellioms!

They have a dream

I did and I put it in the middle nest box, fluffy must have hopped up, rolled it out and on the ground, I found her sitting on the ground in the shavings brooding over that golf ball

This morning she was in the bottom nest box and I asked her ‘why are you there? Did Marty give you an egg?’ Sure enough there was a pink egg there, Marty is happy to give her eggs!

But ya I have to get rid of the golf balls, won’t help though they will sit on nothing!
