It was a brawl 😳

I could hear the commotion, and went to see, and there in the dirt for all to see,

Two tiny raptors, jumping to such a degree, one white and one black, a ferocious sight before me.

One would jump up, the other would too, and tearing out feathers and the dirt was flying too.

Fluffy grabbed hold, of Marty’s wee head, and twisted her down on the ground, then Marty fled,

But in flash she turned! and grabbed Fluffy by the neck, and jumped up, feet slashing, what a fight, oh she led.

Now In comes Henny, with an iron will, she jumps at Marty, on the the ground all three spill.

Quick as a flash Rose joins the fray, it must be the wind causing these clashes today.

Henny beats Rose off, and starts onto Marty, but Fluffy is trying her darnedest to be hearty.

Now Rose and then Henny are out of the way, leaving Marty to thrash Fluffy and chase her away.

And quick as can be, calm reigns again, while Fluffy defeated seeks safety from Me!

Great play by play 🤣!!

What I am wondering is what was Mr. P. doing during the brawl? 🤔

Yup
Since Mr P arrived here and Marty has joined forces with him, she has become quite bold. But she only picks on the other silkies (her size you know). A few times she went after Dorothy when she first started molting.

But since Fluffy has been broody she has been a grumpy old thing. I dragged her and Henny off the nest to get some exercise and dust bathing, I am betting that she and Marty crossed dust bath paths and that started it.

Fluffy got a scratch on her face, but otherwise she is ok. I plopped her and Henny back on their golf balls.
This makes sense. I have never witnessed what I call a "flap fight," (flapping wings, chest bumping, feet raised aggressively and sometimes biting) except for when I have a broody off the nest. I have even had two broodies get in a full on fight, then go and settle back in the same nest happy as can be!

Apparently they settled whatever needed settling!

And caviar. And I remember we discussed cooking bacon in the oven after you had a bit of a fire accident.
And I vaguely remember a burger.
I cooked bacon today. Burgers yesterday.
The bacon is for my lunch today. (BLT’s) :drool

Watch as Glynda teaches my 20+ lb Maine Coon who rules the roost in these parts.

Glynda is probably a little over 3 lbs.

I'm my experience, cats don't mess with full grown chickens. Barn cats and chickens lived together when I was growing up with no incidents at all. You need to watch the chicks but momma hens are fierce and little Phyllis also beat the cat up when she was broody.
Oh my!! Maybe I should be concerned about the cats safety! I am now reassessing my assumptions of their ambivalence towards the cats. Perhaps it isnt an unawareness of a potential threat maybe its that they know there isn't one. Clearly after watching your videos the threat isn't the cat but the chicken. I will keep an eye on them but relax some and let em continue to grow. It seems there is a very good chance it will be just fine! And GO Glynda!! Thank you very much for the videos put into perspective very well. 🐓Rule!

I would still be very careful when they are small.
