Do not be sorry for me that they are not yellow. I may have wanted it to turn out yellow but I am ok with white. Rosie is not the only one who misses Cricket and her cute Dalmatian spots. Black will always be my favorite color, but, I'm open to other colors in my flock as well. I'm even now planning on getting white silkie eggs in the spring. White mind you, what I would say is my least favorite color in the breed. There is a reason though, she shows her chickens, and has several from her breeding pens being shown. Rosie is interested a little bit in showing chickens. My chosen silkie breeder, white is her best line as far as showing, followed closely by her blacks. That is why I'm splitting my egg order in half for 6 white, and 6 blacks. Now, I know nothing about showing chickens, but if we go that route she offers up advice and help on preparing them for a show. We will have to see what next year brings.
Isn’t there a movie about the show chicken world?

Most have settled into after breakfast grooming.

Whiskey is on the other side of the lilac.

Horus is still browsing (too busy chasing girls to eat with them?)

Meanwhile....

Kren on watch outside the coop. Hector is inside with the other girls. Watch rotation is a good thing.

I do not know if it was normal protocol or not, but one of the people featured in "chicken people" showed silkies. Her show birds got weekly baths in the kitchen sink. Then they were blow dried, nails filed, feathers brushed. I remember laughing and telling Rosie I was no where near that bad. I hope I do not end up eating those words.
