I have a problem. I am afraid it is a snake problem which is just great. Blueberry has lost 3 of her chicks in the last 2 days. No bodies discovered, no alarms from any of the chickens and she is not fazed at all. Due to the locations she has been taking her chicks I suspect either a snapping turtle or a snake. Leaning towards snake as I think a turtle issue would raise alarms in some of the flock. I also have been having eggs go missing from the nest on top of the hay pile. I cannot blame that on the egg eating cochins, they cannot get their fat butts up there. Last night I placed 3 golf balls in that nest if it is a snake he is in for a unwelcome surprise. Now, up until this point me and mom have had a agreement I would NOT kill a black snake. I'm on a mission, a black snake hunting mission. If I find it, relocating will not be a option. I will live with a black snake as long as it does not get into the house. I will even loose a few eggs to one, but if it is a chick killer it has crossed the line.
Oh no! That is awful. I hope you can find it soon.

It is Twofer-Tuesday
And here are the BFFs Maggie and Diana. I hope Diana doesn’t take Maggie’s loss to hard. She does seem to get on OK with Bernadette.

🎃Another spooky story. Jaffar and Flash were in the chickens room, but in the dark, I heard a thump then the sound of claws scratching on the linoleum floor. The scratching then became louder, and was on the wood floor. Closer and closer it came. What could this be I asked myself. Then suddenly a thump up on my bed and a cackle sound. So frightening I tried to hide under my covers, but the frightening beast snuggled up to me and fell asleep. (Flash) you scared me! But your purring makes up for it all! The end? I don’t think so!

Oh no so sad, I sure hope you get this mystery solved fast.

Is there anyway to keep mama hen closer to you so you can keeep an eye on her?

Oh, I'm on to you. You're trying to get me to do something more than just post a drive-by comment with a picture tossed in!

You may recall we got 4 little ones. Sadly, we are down to 3 now. One of the reds developed some problems and was euthanized. I'm surprised at how different this new bunch are compared to the last group. But they still like walking all over us (figuratively and literally). 😄

Life has thrown us a few curveballs and we haven't been able to give them as much attention as we would like, but we have fun with them when we can.
That is a POW worthy entry I love it❤️ They sure have you wrapped around their wee claws. Sorry to hear the one didn’t make it❤️

Ok don’t be a stranger 🥰
