Many times have had that happen so annoying!I had a cartfull of items and one pumpkin. When I put it on the pricing deck, I thought it rang it up, but it didn’t. They stopped me at the door and said that my pumpkin wasn’t listed as a purchase. I quickly rectified the situation and then left the store, with chooks pumpkin. $4.00 pain in the pumpkin
!

And here are the BFFs Maggie and Diana. I hope Diana doesn’t take Maggie’s loss to hard. She does seem to get on OK with Bernadette.

That is definitely worthy of an extermination missionI have a problem. I am afraid it is a snake problem which is just great. Blueberry has lost 3 of her chicks in the last 2 days. No bodies discovered, no alarms from any of the chickens and she is not fazed at all. Due to the locations she has been taking her chicks I suspect either a snapping turtle or a snake. Leaning towards snake as I think a turtle issue would raise alarms in some of the flock. I also have been having eggs go missing from the nest on top of the hay pile. I cannot blame that on the egg eating cochins, they cannot get their fat butts up there. Last night I placed 3 golf balls in that nest if it is a snake he is in for a unwelcome surprise. Now, up until this point me and mom have had a agreement I would NOT kill a black snake. I'm on a mission, a black snake hunting mission. If I find it, relocating will not be a option. I will live with a black snake as long as it does not get into the house. I will even loose a few eggs to one, but if it is a chick killer it has crossed the line.
I plan to take it down for the winter. It was only supposed to be up temporarily as quarantine for the new chicks. They love having it though. It is like base #2 for them.awww they can read your mind don’t you know!
Do you take it down because of snow?
I agree - that is a frame worthy pic, too!!!Yep that last photo is awesome! Have tried to do that many times and never can get a good pic! Well done!!
I do not want that guy. If it was found that I had that many snakes, I would set fire to the place. In theory I should not have to scent the golf balls. The hens will do that themselves when they lay their eggs up there. I could be wrong and it not be a snake, I do not know. Whatever it is I have to find it, and find it quick. That is definitely worthy of an extermination missionDo you actually think they will go for the gold balls? Maybe next time you crack/cook an egg, rub some of the egg contents on the gold ball first.
Snakes are purported to have a great sense of smell.
Maybe you can hire him - he can clearly catch a lot of snakes!
