Well, you could go for the big boy britches. Your choice. Either is quite acceptable now-a-days, so go with whatever your heart desires in that regards......

BUT DO IT :hugs :hugs

You have had a rough patch, too, with the loss of chooks and property to evil neighbor, helping an elderly friend with her dying pup, having to make the hardest decision in your life regarding Chaco...
And, clearly, your chooks and Horse are/were your family...
so it isn't easy. However, if you strap on your boots, and focus on SOMETHING positive to do...some mental or physical action to keep you busy and provide positive 'feedback', it will help. It won't magically make it better, but it WILL help. We care about you, Alex. Your Chooks love you (and NEED you). Take care of yourself, mentally & physically, engage in a POSITIVE distraction to help you heal ........:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs

If not, I'll sic my GEESE ON YOU!!!!!

Please No geese on me!

Ohhhhh, but that means NOW it would be a GREAT treat/diversion for them.

Wrap said pumpkin in some foil (whole) pop in oven at around 300 degrees for anywhere from 30-60 minutes (depending on size. until it is roughly half cooked, hardness wise) Slice off a few spots of the skin ( pumpkin face or other) to give them a start to the meat...bring out warm ( but not hot) in late morning...when it will take longest to re-freeze and let them have at it!!!!

If it freezes solid, you can always bring it back into the house, wrap in clean foil, and warm in the oven on low again...to thaw/slightly warm up.....and bring back out mid-day again.

the good thing about the freezing temps is that it will keep 'in-between' heatings, until it is mostly gone. Trust me, once they 'discover' how good pumpkin is...they will have a field day....and it is a healthy & good boredom buster in the cold, dark, 'nothing to forage/nothing to do' days of winter!
I might give that a try. I wonder if it will slump after being frozen though? It's pretty cold for this time of year, -17C/1 F.

The ladies are already familiar with pumpkin seeds - they love all kinds of vegetable and fruit seeds.

I am always on the lookout for boredom busters as winter is long here!

Fluffy Butt Friday, a day late. I think I took this on Thursday, in anticipation. Then of course yesterday just went right on by.

It may slump a bit, but that shouldn't be an issue. You can always cut it in half if it really collapses...and lay the halved flesh side up.... when I have really large pumpkins, I will semi-cook, then quarter it (for huge ones, cut into even more pieces!) and spread the sections around....but I have a LOT of chickens! I suspect for your small flock that a small pumpkin will work fine.

I will also hang the semi-cooked pumpin (if I don't cut it up) on a plant hanger hook (so it is like a cabbage ball type thing) with vertical a strip of skin sliced off at roughly 1/4 way round (so 4) so multiple can eat at the same time...and it becomes even more of a game than when set on ground.

Wow, that is cold. I'm glad I don't live there. I really like the day temps to be 25 degrees (F) or above most winter days. Bless you and your girls for being able to deal with that cold from now until spring!!! (And the darkness that far north brings!)

Is she your sentinal/2nd in command???
I think your mentioning needing to trim Pompeii's top-knot again is true...he can't really see UP. It is clear he is trying to be watchful, though....
Yes I need to do some hair cuts and nail trims on the silkies and him.

I was thinking with him I might use a ponytail holder though, I don’t have any so I need to get some next time I am in town.

So, you’re telling me to slip my big girl panties back on? And your phone is in the couch I’m assuming.
Oi boy that an image😳

Na, the phone was on the chair which is very dark wood, so black phone dark wood….

Tax
I may have to go sit in the shade it’s so nice! But I think my face is getting sunburnt!
