No the roof was rotten way worse than I thought. I had been keeping it dry inside with a tarp on top. This is what I found when I went to take it off today.

On top of that the birch tree is dying. I'm very lucky that the trunk did not break and go through the roof. So the roof came off today and the tree trunk came down.
Yikes! Well done on taking care of it right away!

I had actually put it off all summer hoping the price of lumber would come down. I had no idea the roof was completely rotted like that. I'm very lucky nothing happened. I'm surprised Éowyn did not fall through it as many times as she jumped on it.

I think Mallory's dad has sneakily started his payback for the acquisition of a Silkie. I do not know if I've mentioned it before, but, Rosie's dream horse has always been a Quarter Horse. Before Louis and Russ she harped she wanted a QH. She has always rode gaited horses though and enjoys the ride. I told her she probably would not like the rough ride of one. She believed me, until today darn it. Mallory and her dad went to a auction yesterday, with the intention of buying a donkey to turn loose with their horses because coyote's are getting horrible. They ended up only having jacks at the sale and seeing as how 2/3rds of their horses are mares he did not get one. Instead, they came home with a 12 year old super broke Russ look-a-like QH mare for Mallory. They came up to the ring today to ride and brought her. Rosie has met it, rode it, and is now back to nagging she needs a QH. When they left, Travis her dad hollered at me Silkies were cheaper then a QH.

Clever man. 😆

Oh! I meant great job taking care of it right away when you found out it was rotted. But I guess you didn’t find out until you started pulling it out. I guess I should just say you were lucky!

I was lucky, too, this weekend. I was in a bicycle accident and managed to only get a couple sore wrists, some sore intercostal (rib) muscles smd a sore, spongy knee. No bone breaks, no concussion and only minor soft tissue issues that I can tell.

Thanks! I just priced it at my local TSC on line and it is $1 cheaper than Horse Stall Pellets for a 40lb bag.
- Wood stove pellets - $6.29 for a 40lb bag
- Horse stall pellets - $7.29 for a 40lb bag
- Feline pine pellets - $27.98 for 40lb (2x 20lb bags)
It really is an astonishing price difference for the same product!

You think that is bad. My mom used to make quilts. One time she was talking about needing more Orvus paste to wash some fabric, but complaining that it was so expensive. (I’m going to use “today’s” prices to explain this since it was several years ago, but the result is about the same.) When they package Orvus for quilters to use it is in little 1oz packages. Today they sell for around $5. You should have seen her face when I told her she could get the same stuff in a gallon container at a farm supply store for around $30. In other words, $5 per ounce when marketed to quilters, $0.23 per ounce when marketed as a livestock shampoo. 😱😂

I think she still has part of that gallon she bought. :lau

That is very lucky indeed. My gosh how scary. Give yourself time to recover. Wow!

They are adorable little boys though.
They are adorable. After the 3 losses I am left with 13 total chicks. Of those, 3 I am confident are boys, I'm seeing lots of pullets. I guess I'm just feeling sorry for myself that the white one is a boy. I am switching gears now and eye balling 2 other chicks that I would bet are pullets as a potential keeper. 1 is the only cochin mix and the other one is the brown chick I posted a picture of a few days ago that was yelling at me. Both of those 2 are Blueberrie's chicks. I may just decide to let them all go except the blue pullet. We will see, I still have several weeks to make up my mind.
