Haven't posted much over the last few days. Between work and keeping everyone warm, haven't extra time. As of this morning, the chickens are getting VERY vocal. They're none too happy about staying in the coop. I've been opening the hatch for them before going to work, but based upon the lack of bird tracks, they haven't been venturing forth. Temps have ranged from just below 0F (-17 to -20c range) to upper 20sF (maybe -2C). Feathers are coming FAST, and it looks like no more are dropping beyond any that were already loosened. No bird pics, but some other interesting shots from the cold.

WOW JUST WOW!

First that buck blends so nicely with the brush!

And those wide open vistas!!! Stunning! Which is why I love Alberta in the winter (summer blah…)

Lastly sunrises and sunsets in the winter in the plains and foothills is AMAZING! Do you get those sun dogs? Where you get the halo around the sun?

Speaking of slipping and falling … everything is froze here with a skiff of ice, the wooden steps out of the house are extremely slippery - I pretty much took a header down them

But the real fun was when Whiskers jumped up on the 1x6 plank I had leaning against the barn and like a pro snowboarder skied down the board and hopped off at the bottom !!! Hahahaha so wish I got that on video! That has got to be hard on wee feet though

If I want cold, I will fly to NovaScotia .. it’s on my bucket list

Oh you will love it! The Bay Of Fundy is amazing and the mud flats astonishingly beautiful. Red mud, then the water comes in and it’s and ocean then goes out again….

Don’t wait go and see! August is the best month to go.

kinda a modern day prophet. I can see things before it happens. You will get pinned inside a stall with Dirt pressing against you. (Try to avoid that, if possible) I’m serious

Apparently I'm not the only one who pictures French hens with berets and cigarettes. I'm sorry @ManueB that seems to be the American stereotype.

I can only imagine how you all would picture an American hen.

I have no idea what kind of grass. Just the kind that grows when you don’t maintain an area!
