RIP dear Ruby. Love both pictures. What a great look she had!Awww, Peanut. Rough timing for a molt. Glad her eyes are looking better, though! She looks so much like my Ruby in the face!

Ruby must have had laying hormones in the first picture. I don’t remember her comb and waddles being so fleshy most of the time.
Ginger is stunning looking! It is quite chilly here today. There were even some snowflakes early this morning. I managed to convince the kids to bundle up and go outside for bit. When we got out there all the chickens were in the coop, apparently they thinks its cold too. I opened the door from the run to the outside and they decided it was fine after all and came out to say hello.
Brownie is filling out some this week

Who’s that in the nest box, second one up from the floor? It’s a light colored bird though…I bet it’s not pleasant when it rollsI am surprised they only suggest doing this every 4 yrs though. It’s the same here.
Not sure if I should tell you this but we had a tragic helicopter on ocean crash back in 2009, on route to the Sea Rose a platform ship in the Hybernia oil fields off Newfoundland. Only one survivor.
My cousin. Robert was already out on Sea Rose and was supposed to be returning on that chopper, and when we heard it went down and only one survivor named Robert, well you can understand that we were all freaking out here.
The media was giving conflicting reports but finally our Robby was able to contact his parents and let us know it wasn’t him. Robby and the rest of the returning crews had to take a 16hr ferry ride back to St Johns, as opposed to a 90 min chopper ride. Robby never did go back out to the platforms again after that, even though I reminded him for over 30 yrs there had never been an incident.

I am not sure if the crew on the chopper initially survived the ocean impact, but that survival training is likely what saved Robert Deckers life. I am glad you platform workers have to do this training

Where’s Marty? Is she laying an egg? It freaks me out when they get down onto the floor at night

The would be Curly, she decided last night that the new stairs and missing side roost was just too different! So she hopped in her nest box - which I wish all the silkies would use!Who’s that in the nest box, second one up from the floor? It’s a light colored one ?
Wish they would all roost in the boxes safer!Who’s that in the nest box, second one up from the floor? It’s a light colored bird though…
Oh bother. I agree. I want people who want to care for the chickens and cats to watch them. That's why my brother and niece are no longer used. The would be Curly, she decided last night that the new stairs and missing side roost was just too different! So she hopped in her nest box - which I wish all the silkies would use!
It freaks me out when they roost so high up! Marty seems to be able to flap/crash down safely, Henny can flap pretty good - but Fluffy and Curly not so well.
I am not overly worried about the kiddies other than those silkies, I had my mum lift fluffy and old Penelope down. And I had to listen to mum huffing and grumbling this morning when doing the chickens, I became quite irritated with her because if she didn’t want to feed the darn chickens I would have asked my neighbour! And paid my neighbour rather than mum
I don’t want anyone caring for my animals if they don’t want to, even where I keep the horses they are snippy! Have new ‘fees’ geez! I would think that getting $1600 every month for a couple ponies and 2 small horses that hardly eat anything would be my dream! They are also charging me for any grain my horses get so the only thing they have to buy is shavings for bedding (and they are very skimpy with that I tell you), they grow their own hay.
But due to this last minute situation I have to deal with it so nothing I can do![]()
