None, I’m sure. I’m not even sure if one is required. And I’m not the kind of neighbor to turn someone in for building a fence, even if I think it’s ugly. We’ll make the most of what we have and continue to work on our own side. If they start trying to use it as a corporation yard, however, I will absolutely turn them in.
Maybe you could paint a few flowers on it to make it more attractive? :idunno

Why not shift the heater down toward the wall? Okay please don't take this the wrong way, suggesting you undo what you've got there, but from my wire run experience I'm thinking about how versatile the mesh is - what about instead of the board (or use the board there for the mount) you use a wire mesh panel like one wall of a dog crate, or a barbecue grill or something? Hang that, then you can take two S-hooks and hang the heater anywhere along it and also adjust the height, and it's easy to put up and take down. I suggest it be close to the wall, to the right, since they want to be over there, and put it lots lower so they get all the rising heat off it.

Okay, another thought, based on how close I see the ladies here get to it - since they (Bernie) use the platform below to get up on the roost, you might think about hanging the mesh panel from the ceiling, and hanging it behind where they are now (opposite side of the roost bar), so that it can be closer to them. In this picture it would be heating their rumps. Totally in the way of your camera view, I realize, where it's placed right now.

A compromise might be to hang it on the side it is now, but kitty corner between the right wall and the window wall to get it closer.
Just a suggestion, it's all up you!
Huh? I think I am losing the plot on what the issue is.
I can take it off and on very easily - it is just hamgs on a couple of mounting screws. I could easily move it to the right by adding/moving those screws.
It is less than 12" from the roost - so when they are in front of it they can toast their little butts or keep their combs warm. And if I had more than two chickens all the ones furthest from the wall would be right in front of it. The issue is that with only two of them and them prefering to be up against the wall they aren't getting the benefit of it.
The easiest solve for that is to shift it to the right of the board I mounted across the window.
Bob is advocating rotating it 90 degrees and having it at the end. I am not so sure about that but could try it out. I don't think it can hang the other side of the roost as they use that to get up (Bernie goes up that way, and then goes down to the platform and then back up to get 'her slot'). They also use it to get down - admittedly the Roadrunners more than Diana used to fly direct from the roost through the human door when it is open into the run. And I am not seeing the benefit of it being on the other side of the roost given it is so close to the roost already.
What am I missing?

And while I ponder all these puzzles Diana is leading the shuffle to be in front of the heat!
