Is there anything else you can do to control the spikes? So, what I feared would happen with this surgery is starting to happen. My blood sugar levels are proving to be very difficult to keep under control. I spent all day yesterday trying for the most part unsuccessfully to keep my levels down. I was spiking up to 400, for no reason. When if finally came down it did in a big way, to 42 suddenly. This is why it is concerning for a diabetic to have surgery. First off we are slow healers, and then blood sugar. Pain and stress can cause sugar spikes. Even with the pain meds, the stress and trauma of the procedure will naturally cause the levels to rise. I have ketone strips on hand and as long as I do not reach over 500 and stay there for longer then 18 hours and do not start passing ketones I do not have to go back to the hospital. Right now, thankfully I am not passing ketones in my urine and I talked to my dr yesterday. She told me the next couple days she expects to be the worst with the blood sugar spikes and hopefully by day 7 things should calm down on that front.
I wish you comfort foods (without the bad sugars)Is there anything else you can do to control the spikes?![]()
It’s very froggy outside right now!Weather alert Central Valley California: freezing temperatures for tonight and Sunday morning. Freeze warnings for almond and walnut trees.
very sad, lots of lost product, raises the price
I may have to bring all the chooks inside tonight.
Drink lots of water, exercise and give extra insulin. I have to be careful with the insulin amounts right now as I am not reacting to is as normal. And when the insulin does kick in it kicks in a big way and caused the low earlier. I went from a 387 to a 42 in the span of 20 minutes. Is there anything else you can do to control the spikes?![]()
Don't be alone when you are swinging around like that! And carry some fast sugar with you - like glucose tabs. I suspect you are well aware of all that.Drink lots of water, exercise and give extra insulin. I have to be careful with the insulin amounts right now as I am not reacting to is as normal. Eggs, lots of scrambled eggs. I was actually planning to sell 2 dozen yesterday. I have been craving eggs since I came home from the hospital and I've ate them for almost every meal. Carb free so they will not raise my sugar when it is high. Can add toast when needed if it is running low. Most importantly non-greasy as grease makes me sick. I messaged them and they understood and will try to have 2 dozen next week. If I do not keep eating them that is.I wish you comfort foods (without the bad sugars)![]()
I would think that is dangerous.Drink lots of water, exercise and give extra insulin. I have to be careful with the insulin amounts right now as I am not reacting to is as normal.
