I have been wondering how the stove was doing. Glad to hear it is handling the cold snap well.Well, the good news is the forecast high this weekend is 70+ degrees warmer than now. The bad news.....it's -36F. In other good news, the wood stove is doing its job...WELL!
Thanks.Great photos with rough news. I'm so sorry. Here's hoping that things turn out well for you both.![]()
It's been too long since we have seen them. Such beautiful ladies.Yesterday's photo shoot
Peanut and Hazel. Peanut's hairdo is quite interesting. She has an island of fluff up there making a little bump. When she raises and fluffs her head and neck feathers you can really see it but it happens too quickly to get a picture.

Butters being not very impressed. She is having a soft molt.

Hazel and Popcorn, transfixed by the flash on the camera which seems to be on. Popcorn usually won't stay that still.

They are amazingly effective.Shower curtains! I use them as windbreaks around my run. The ones I have are on their third winter now.
Thank you for the pics now I see what was going on,,, in the spring we have to do some run redo, our snow is wet and very heavy, Dobilover messaged me some good idea I send you,I had a ton of hay twine so I tied a bunch together and strung it across the run to help keep hawks from trying to get in and catch the chickens. It will likely not last with this heavy snow and ice but it’s easy to fix.View attachment 3356667View attachment 3356665View attachment 3356668
Eventually I want to put a solid cover on parts of the run and the open sections I will put netting across the top.
Don't worry, they are coming your way.Silkie Polish cross in my caseI keep trying to visualize what they would look like.
