I can confirm that, sort of. Years ago I was living with my girlfriend and her teenage daughter. They got into a very heated conversation. Yelling and screaming Goin on. I should have grabbed a beer and walked outside but I didn't. I got drug into it and then they both turned on me. At this point I grabbed a sixer and went outside until it quieted down. Sometimes it is best to let em settle it on their own (hens and women) 😆🍻
Hahaha lesson learned I see!

And I can truly say I am super happy my gang is relatively drama free!

15F here with windchill of 6F. Will finally get above freezing for 3-4 hours this afternoon then fall back into the 20s. Going to feel like a heatwave. :lau

Chooks have all seemed fine so far. Not even fluffed up much.
That’s good! I was wondering how everyone is managing with their homes and chooks.

Thanks. It is dry and no draft. I think they've gone through low 20's last year and they were completely fine. But it is different this time due to the dramatic drop in temp.

We can bring them all in the garage if we have to. We have dog crates and pet carriers.
Hope your chickies were ok last night, I was watching the news and seems the whole continent is under crazy weather.

@Ponypoor Hope you have finally kicked that bug!

@RoyalChick You ARE a good chicken mom. And see, Bernie loves you :love. I'm sure they were pretty cozy in the garage with a heater.

@rural mouse I don't mind the cold too much, but your dip was just plain old too low for me! Glad the chooks survived - and yes, I bet it will be a mass exodus today!

@ChicoryBlue I think your pen set-up is great. And, while I realize that you don't want rain/snow to come into the run, a few cracks in the plastic shouldn't hurt...they have plenty of space to get out of the wind and with their deep bedding, they can 'burrow in' if they want - or go to the heater for spells to warm up. And the feathering out is coming along pretty well.

@BY Bob What happened to the light up goat Mrs. By Bob got last year?? Love the light up chicken you and a few others have! I think instead of being called a 'crazy chicken lady/person', it should be 'crazy for chickens':D❤️❤️:D

@Ponypoor This is for you, another earworm.

Wow ! Soooooo glad it all went well! And glad your pipes didn’t rupture, nothing worse that water issues in the freezing cold!

The wind is ferocious here also, and that old Poplar tree was throwing off dead branches onto the path to the barn, I am going the rope off the path under it, so no one gets clobbered.

I feel asleep watching TV also, and at around 11pm just figured it was too much effort to move and ‘get ready for bed’. So just stayed were I was. All night the 65’ tower attached to the house kept banging and clanging. A restless night….

What’s the temps there? Hopefully not too much snow!
No snow, but it went down to 3F (without windchill). It is very windy and periodic freight train gusts.
I tested the nipple waterer (which is on a heated plate) and I didn't notice that a drip or two got on my sleeve. I went right back to the garage and my sleeve froze solid!

The Princesses are back in the Chicken Palace. I got the sharp end of Bernie's tongue for grabbing her out of the dog crate.

They seem OK out even though it is only 6F. I gave them hot mash but they didn't eat it all so my guess is it will freeze before they get a chance. I will go out with more in an hour or so.

It will be in the teens tonight so I think they can stay out tonight.

That’s awesome thanks 🥰 always likes Nat King Cole, and that one is a classic ❤️

I just can’t believe this weather, the whole of the continent is in the grips of this cold it seems.

They should be fine as long as there is adequate ventilation.
Hope your chickies were ok last night, I was watching the news and seems the whole continent is under crazy weather.
Thank you Bob, and thank you Kelly for thinking about them. They were fine and are as lively as ever. Light went back out around 9am when temperature was 22F. She laid a beautiful egg in the pine shaving bag in the house. She enjoyed the good old days being a house chicken. She was standing still and watching me doing dishes for a while. She is such a good chicken.

I did enjoy a cuddle (albeit an enforced cuddle) with Bernadette. But boy did she yell at me once she was back home. I could do nothing right!
Great earworm!

Awwww see you are an awesome chicken mama 💕

I think that as long as they are dry and it’s not too drafts they should be fine.

Ok I will check on everyone later I am going to check on my chickies then go to town…
