So what’s up with your broody silkie? I saw your posting last night were someone snuck an egg for her I know I shouldn’t laugh!

How is Mama Hen this morning?

Good afternoon. Momma is so far sitting tight today. I thought she was going to come off earlier when I was sitting at the table drinking coffee, but instead she turned the eggs. I caught a glimpse of at least 2 eggs in that process but from how long it took I know she has more. Chiquita is locked out of the coop and she is very angry at the world. I also had to kick her out of the porch box. She followed one of the hens there this morning and joined her in the nest as she was trying to lay. I guess she figures one way or another she is going to find a egg to hatch. During the cold snap egg production dropped significantly from about 8 a day to at most 3. I searched everywhere and have not found a hidden nest. I am afraid that there might be one because if Chiquita finds it before I do, I could be in trouble.

For Thirsty Thursday her is Chiquita enjoying wild water. Why do I even bother keeping clean water for them, they never use it.

Nope. DIana isn't shrinking and is fluffing up nicely. It is just that Bernadette is a 'monster chicken' - honestly she is huge and very tall.

Yea I have let them all come to me in their own time now the girls jump on me. Zeus actually got in my lap and hades is coming to me but wont let me pet them yet. Soon I think.

They have been talking up storms especially the girls. And Zeus crows all morning so does my neighbors rooster. I love their sounds.

Wow your girls are very determined! Just tell her to be patient and she can have chicks in the Spring
