Brownie is a FBCM and Flour, Sugar, and Powder all have quite a bit of Marans in them. So 4/10 plenty enough to make my life interesting to say the least. I could deal with Broody if they could just lay eggs and brood in a reasonable location, like oh idk one of the 4 nest boxes!!

If you don't have fake eggs, put 1 or 2 of the eggs they've laid into a couple of the nest boxes and leave them for 24 hours. At this time of year, they might freeze but for just a day should be ok. Instinct says to lay eggs in safe places and where one lays another will follow as its likely a safe place.

Confiscated eggs (wasted eggs and labor for the hens) such a shame!

How old is she? Have you checked to see if she is swollen at all?

That is very bad. What color are her poos? Have you had a float test done?

She is about 8.5 month. I feel like some of the butt area is a bit red
Maybe the starting sign of vent gleet, as linked in Kelly's post? I am going to do some research about it.

Her poo color is pretty normal, if I happen to see it. It is also not always runny. Will the purpose of float test be finding worms?

Hmmm yes I see, so no eggs from Mexico due to avian flu. Makes sense.

Same thing happening from Canada to the US. But I suspect that from Canada to the US would be more for protectionism!

I see Momma has shown them the creek! Hope they stay far enough away to not get dunked! They re so darn cute Well, Momma may be evil, but she knows her 'momma' stuff!!!

This is wonderful - she looks like a genuine part of the flock - I'm so happy for her!
