I'm hoping I find my ceramics when I clean out the coop this spring. Mine tossed them out of the nest boxes and hid them all.
I have to put them back every so often. I think Hattie tosses them out when she wants to sleep in a nest box.

I was mistaken about Coco. Upon further inspection this morning, she must have hit her keel bone on something in the coop when she fell. I found bloody feathers underneath her, but otherwise she is fine. I checked her for any signs of broken bones or cuts. She’s gotta be careful! She’s my only egg laying hen at the moment. :bow

And here, a dozen eggs is more expensive than a gallon of gasoline!

Glad she is okay !

When I went back out to the coop last night, Coco was perched on that chain link gate in the picture. Her regular place is up above, to the right. B318FE20-211D-4BB9-ADF1-1FC9FFB32F7F.jpeg

I do have fake eggs, ceramic ones in each of the boxes. So far they ignore them completely and go to the back corner of the coop to lay in the bedding. I have never seen a pullet enter the nest boxes not once. I guess they do not like the type I got 🤷‍♀️
Put some live eggs in one of them. Make a little clutch.
