I'm hoping I find my ceramics when I clean out the coop this spring. Mine tossed them out of the nest boxes and hid them all.

I have to put them back every so often. I think Hattie tosses them out when she wants to sleep in a nest box.

I was mistaken about Coco. Upon further inspection this morning, she must have hit her keel bone on something in the coop when she fell. I found bloody feathers underneath her, but otherwise she is fine. I checked her for any signs of broken bones or cuts. She’s gotta be careful! She’s my only egg laying hen at the moment.

When I went back out to the coop last night, Coco was perched on that chain link gate in the picture. Her regular place is up above, to the right.

They do have a ramp up to the rafters. The don’t regularly use it.

I do have fake eggs, ceramic ones in each of the boxes. So far they ignore them completely and go to the back corner of the coop to lay in the bedding. I have never seen a pullet enter the nest boxes not once. I guess they do not like the type I got

Put some live eggs in one of them. Make a little clutch.
