I am not so sure this will make a difference. That said, we are coming on to spring - so if Bernie is going to lay, she will probably start within the next month to 6 weeks. (i.e. by late March)

That is the 'Way of the Chicken' They all celebrate the chance for the species to continue!:lau:lau

Actually, I do wonder why everyone joins in, when it is supposed to be an escort call for the hen so she can go back to the tribe????:idunno:idunno:idunno

I do like to hear it, though :love:love:love.

I'm sure @RoyalChick was just tickled pink to hear it today!:):wee:)
My hens sound off and the roos call back. Sounds kinda like "Marco" "Polo"

Holy crap-adoodle!

OK! I want one of them also :) Or maybe 3 or 4....

I don't think they have them, though....

Nope just checked only one variety....

Ok well something to look forward to along with the Hamburgs :)
That’s what I made for dinner tonight. Two 🍔 hamburgs, with jalapeños, cheese, onions on Hawaiian toast bread. Yum!

Final Powder update:

We were able to put Powder to rest, I found her today under the bridge in the stream. I will never know precisely what caused her death but I am glad to know she isn't out there hurt, lost or scared.

I hesitated to post this because I don't wish to make anyone sad. However, everyone was so supportive in trying to help me figure out what might have happened to her I thought you would want to know even if it is sad.

Thank you everyone :hugs

Sorry to hear about the loss. At least we can put her to rest now. It makes us crazy when we don’t know what happened to our pets. Rest now little Powder.

I am starved - I rarely if ever eat at the main camp - I generally cook for myself as I am an extremely fussy eater. But they had Beef Dip for lunch - so I was looking forward to it.

It might as well have been rubber and stale bread, the 'beef' and I use that term loosely as it was horrid horrid horrid horrid horrid horrid (ok you get the picture) - fatty gristly, rubbery meat - could hardly cut it with a knife. They used a hard ciabatta roll for the roll/bun, and the au jus was watery oxo I am sure. It was DISGUSTING. I threw it into the garbage, along with the disgusting potato wedges.

So I am starving.... and I need to cook something but idiot me didn't take the REAL beef chunks out of the freezer to make a stir up/stir fry.... sheesh! I am going to try to thaw it in the microwave though as I am starving and want some real food!

OK foodie tax
The Chicks (from my neice) They loved that box hahaha - I got salt blocks for the horses and threw the box on the floor and the next thing had all 7 trying to get in the box - they tried to cram themselves in there until the box finally fell apart they got so big :)

Hopefully you have some real food you like in your belly now :) I am glad you are able to bring food with you, have the experience to know you definitely need to, and are prepared! Stir fry sounds delicious!

Night before last, everybody together in the roosting area. No idea why!

Nope - just cooked up some beef stir fry from some Beef I got at Walmart, tough as old boot leather also - you just cannot get good cuts of meat up here! It's Alberta! the meat should be outstanding!

Not still standing in the field like an old steer! sheesh! they called this stir-fry beef - but it should have actually been listed as Stewing Beef.... if it was left in a pot for 1/2 a day to simmer it would probably not be too bad, but NOT as a stir fry - I should have brought a good steak and cut it up myself - and not from walmart (sorry but walmart has crappy meat cuts - much prefer Sobeys or Metro).

This is one thing I miss from back home - really good grocery stores with good produce. Cannot get good veggies and good tropical fruits - it's always hit and miss.

OK well I also cooked Rice-a-roni (the San Francisco treat - ok jingle has been around a while here in Canada)...

More food tax...

One cranky hen, for one cranky human
Poor Dorothy :)

Likely getting cabin fever way up here with no good food... might need to take some time and drive into Grande Prairie for a bigger shopping centre... Edmonton is too far.
