Buffy laid one that was 98.4g (3.47 ounces). It was a monster. Here is a pic of it next to one of her “normal” eggs. Most of hers are pretty big. That might be a world record for a chicken. Ouch!
I kept losing my balance when I tried crutches so not using them. I have a knee walker, but haven’t used it much since there isn’t much room to move around in the trailer.Sorry to hear that your leg is bothering you, and your hip - ugh - totally empathize on that
Are you able to get about ok with crutches?
I had one laying a double yolk egg about every other egg most of the first year. She settled down after that.Oh no! Babs seems OK.
That is really frustrating. I hope that you have made progress since then.I was afraid by last nights behavior at bedtime where I had a hard time collecting the chicks that having to chase them around Louis stall has made them fearful of me. This mornings behavior confirmed it. Normally when I come out to let Chiquita and the chicks out of the tote they come to me to be picked up and will even perch in my hand for a minute. Today they were running away from me and panicking when I touched them. Crap, there goes the last week and a half for work down the drain. I'm going to have to bribe them again it seems. They love worms, so this afternoon after I hear back from the dr about Rosie's x-rays I'm going to go dig up a handful of worms and unless they hop in my hand they are not getting them.
My ex boyfreinds parrot loved me. I even taught her to flip people off. llolOh she has him wrapped around her wing doesn't she! I have heard parrots are like that - they tend to get attached to a certain person and that is it!
Why the Wow emojis on my post? I don't get it...I meant everything, all possibilities, on a lower level than they are now, the determinator being how high you’re willing to let the silkies flap down from.
Yes, it is time !Even though they still roost separately it does seem like they have joined together as a flock so I don’t need to worry that Bernie is lonely.
Maybe it is time I added more chickens!

Welcome! If you would like to share pictures and stories of your chickens we would love to see them!Thank you for sharing and introducing your hens and rooster. The are gorgeous pets!
A couple of things, any chance there could be mites in the nest boxes? Chickens will avoid places where they get bit like we all would. Cleaning everything out of the nest box and flaming the box with a torch making sure the flame gets in all the corners and nooks can assure there are no mites hiding. Of course you can't flame every kind of nest box. Don't burn down your coop.I know I'm behind on reading this...but all 3 of my girls are all refusing to lay anywhere but right in the high traffic area next to the pop door! They won't even go near the nest boxes. It's making me crazy!
