I dont have any broodies. But Anconas are suppose to be broody.
I swear I can sleep all day both ears hurt.

I make mine get off their nest at least twice a day - other than that they can stay broody. I don't mind them taking a break from making eggs.

Be afraid, be very afraid!”

hahaha - yup - they are terrifying for sure! and can peck real hard when they want to - ow!

I’m satisfied that Dakota is doing well, and the rest are thriving. So I’m making some plans for the weekend.
A quick trip to Colorado to visit with my lady friend. I already have my property covered and my BP is in check. Unless something changes, I’ll be flying out in the morning. 🛩️

Wonderful! I am so glad you are taking time for yourself :)

Bubba came up on the porch, let his presence be known and the loud complaining stopped. Now we have this stare down happening over a nest box. This is not even the one they have been fighting over the last 2 days. Berthie still has not laid, she is out back occasionally voicing her opinion. I think maybe Goose finally laid, but she is unwilling to get out just yet. Bunny who has used the other box for the past week wants in with Goose. Why? Yesterday she drug one of the other hens out of the box closest to the window so she could lay. Her box is empty, yet here we are.

These are the Days of our Chickens Lives, as their World Turns, they are ever so Bold and Beautiful :)

Oh, 2 broodies can easily handle 10 chicks! You need 3 broodies, though - 2 to handle the 10 chicks, and then Marty to hatch 3-4 of her own (@RebeccaBoyd - what is this, only suggesting 2! one might not hatch!! AND, I say 4 is better - hopefully 3 will hatch and she gets at least 1 pullet. Gotta work the numbers!) ;)
Well if you want those other 'two' Roos than for sure - otherwise Wee Marty is SOL on the chick front unless she is broody when I go to get the wee monkeys in April :)
