Something is up with Eli. She keeps shouting and trying to get everyone to go back inside the Chicken Palace.
Babs, Bernie and I keep looking around but don’t see anything worrying so we ignore her and she gets even more frantic.
I can’t figure out why she is so distressed.

Either she wants company to lay her egg (remember, she stood guard while Babs laid!), or she sees something amiss that the others aren't. I'm hoping it is the former, as I don't want anything to be amiss, nor for any of them to get hurt.

So, has Eli laid yet today? I do hope that is it. You know, us ladies can't go to the rest room alone (supposedly, anyways), maybe Eli doesn't want to lay an egg alone! :idunno:idunno

The mama frequently brings them into the pecking order above the low ranked hens and is in a better position to defend them from curious/higher ranked birds.
Ahhhh ok that sounds great. Now If one of my top hens would go broody. What am i saying! NO MORE CHICKIES, except what I have in the incubator.

@ValarieF It also means they have access to the best food/first dibbs on treats, etc. even above other adults. (i.e. They have access at the same level their Mom has.)

This week it is Eli wishing everyone a Happy Mugshot Monday

She told me I had to include the second picture even though it is a bad picture because she wants Aurora to see how magnificent her beard and muffs are becoming. She also told me to take a better picture next time. Just do better is what she said.

Eli, just because it is not the best picture, it really shows your personality! Don't be rude to your human servant!
