I put the incorrect 3rd video up... silly me!

Mr P decides to check on Dorothy....

Sophia takes the lead and joins Rose and Misty in the nest box.

Then Dorothy decides she is done with the nest much to Mr P's dismay!

Meanwhile in the other nest box, Sophia was giving me a fit with that egg she was rolling around!

I missed when Misty jumped out, but they were all singing. Sophia finally did also jump out but I missed that...

But then she decided that she wanted back in that nest ❤️
Wouldn't you like some mini nestbox cams?

Mozzarella seems tired. Looks like this is a friendly reminder for us two to head to bed.

It’s very late, but I have to talk with Jaffar about everything that will happen soon. He doesn’t seem to mind, and he is very interested in what I am saying to him. (And his waddles are being rubbed) :gig
And what is happening soon? If you said, I missed it.

Haha. I don't have enough eggs, just buy some lol... four laying hens don't give me enough eggs... wait... four??? Guess who laid her first ever egg today??? I started crying because my baby girl grew up!!View attachment 3426808View attachment 3426809
What a beautiful first egg. Congrats!

Just know that a fat hen - it makes laying more difficult, and can cause egg binding and/or prolapsed vent. Both are serious conditions - that can lead to permanent injury and death. Not to mention that being overweight can cause fatty liver disease - which invariably leads to early death of the hen.

While veggies are fairly healthy - fatty things like sunflower seeds, meal worms, BSFL etc in excess (just like with humans) will negatively impact their health. Also, lots of high carb foods, like millet, corn, etc...in excess also increases rate of obesity.

Thanks for linking that article. It is very informative.

Driving driving driving....

OK so heading home woohoo! made it to Lloydminster on the border for Alberta and Saskatchewan :)

Miserable last hr driving with blowing snow and snow - ugh....

And I almost came home with a dozen Welsummer eggs, but the lady called me too late for me to turn back to the west of Edmonton. Guess it wasn't meant to be...

OK hope everyone's chickies are good, and I hope all of you are also well.

Oh and I saw a herd of Bison in the Elk Lake Provincial Park :)

Check in tomorrow!

My kiddos are all asleep!
