Yup. They are still roosting up high. Every now and then they roost with Bernie.
When Eli was egg bound and had trouble with her legs they roosted low (ie at 4.5’) and two nights ago Babs failed to get sufficient height and plummeted to earth so they roosted low that night too.
What you see in that picture is literally the one patch of green. I don’t understand why. It must have a sheltered micro-climate in some way. Everywhere else is dead leaves and dry scrub. Strange.
Well I had hoped that they decided to roost with Bernie, but it is nice that when Eli was feeling poorly they roosted down low.

Maybe good chicken poo in that green patch 🤭

Oh the cheek of her!

Hopefully the wind settles overnight. What is with the crazy weather?
It’s the apocalypse, end of time stuff (nothing important) but this redheaded menace has to be stopped. :old 5A1F98AA-D093-46CB-9369-BA4C07A9E1D0.jpeg

Crispy Snow
This is what happens to snow overnight, it freezes solid, during the day it becomes quite soft and slushy, the holes the horses hooves make create a hazard for both me and the horses walking in the early morning, not to mention the crust scratches the horses heels and can make them bleed.

Just like chickens and their pecking order (the horses picking on each other!)

Ya me too! And I wonder what colour eggs any pullets willl lay?

Silkies are pink peach in colour, Sophia is dark brown with mottling, blanches egg is khaki olive in colour.

I think polish lay white eggs

Anyone have any idea on egg colour from pullets born of this mix??
Yup, an Easter Egg basket full of egg colours is what they will lay!

The Careful Cough…

Please be allergies please be allergies….

Worried that my tickly throat and stuffy nose is just allergies, but now I have what I call a careful cough.

I was putting all the chooks to bed and the dust and dander was flying so I am hoping it’s just allergies to the chooks.

I am allergic to chickens and horses I am not sick!
