At the time of the European arrival in Pennsylvania there was a confederation of native American tribes in the region called the Iroquois Nation. It was made up of many individual tribes as such as the Delaware who were located along what the newcomers would call the Delaware River.

William Penn, who founded the colony, insisted that the natives were dealt with as fairly as could be at the time. There was never any taking of their land by force, only by negotiation and treaty. Pennsylvania mean's Penn's Woods.
Ah thanks Bob - I'll do some more reading around

THIS! I firmly believe chickens experience jealosy.
I know they do! I used to feed my lowest ranked & smallest bird in my lap to ensure she got some good tucker into her. Now I have 14 chickens squabbling over who gets to eat out of my hands! It's exactly the same food that's in the tubs. 🙄 I bring treats & ensure everyone gets some but they line up to see who gets preferential treatment straight from the food bucket. And the pecking if someone gets something someone else thinks they shouldn't!!! My little Wyandottes know I'll slip them something special if I can because the standards can usually push them of the treats & they get very quiet & sneaky. 😄

That's awesome. What stories did they tell you? Can you share?
They are terrible gossips! The neighbours have no secrets! :lau And the way they rat on each other is really quite awful. For the Aussies: You're terrible, Muriel; about sums it up!:lau:lau:lau

Between all the COVID free range time and this whole hatching chicks thing i now have messed up egg laying. The nesting boxes are really only used by Hattie and Aurora now. Phyllis had given up on them quite a while ago. She almost exclusively uses the brush pile. Now Sansa is using the nest Lilly built for her on top of the pool shed.

Oh, gosh. I hope you don't have someone secreting eggs with designs to sit!

Nine in there overnight. Rarely have any problems.
