Thank you. She is having a particularly bad day as she was not interested in dinner at all. I suspect she is working on passing the egg. We may bring her in to give her a bath.

I don't feel good giving chickens implant somehow. It is not really an option either. We have a vet here that sees chickens who has a 5 week waiting list on new patients. I also don't know if they do implants. Maybe I will try the birth control pills if I am desperate.
I just read an article on the use of Apo-Medroxy (progesterone) in hens to reduce egg laying, and it was very promising. They can do an injection every 4-6 weeks or a pill daily.

App-medroxy is very inexpensive (I pay about $12 for 3 months worth) and I bet you can get it easily compounded for a chicken dose.

That was wonderful. You are exceptionally talented. I could feel the danger and the warmth. I could just feel the spring in the music.

I want you to know I played it without watching the video. Really great stuff.
Thanks Bob. :hugs It’s interesting that you think I’m talented; I spent a good part of the weekend thinking it was rubbish and I needed to upskill so I could be better!

Sunday Update

Still no signs of infection among Hattie, Glynda, and the Polish. Hattie used the roost tonight.

In the main coop things remain the same except Lady Featherington's wheezing has changed. I can't quite describe how but it's different. We will bring her in tomorrow and give her a once over. No progression in symptoms in anyone else. If anything the sneezing seems to be less, but that could be wishful thinking on my part.
I noticed them all happily digging away in there this morning, everyone was acting like a busy hen❤️ Do you think maybe some allergies? Have you changed bedding sources ?

That’s awesome! I had to put up triple foam insulation in the windows of the barn when I had my other Roos, so I could sleep! Do your neighbours know you have chickens at all in that case?

Mr P thankfully doesn’t crow much.

I was just commenting the other day about the noise my hens make as opposed to the Roo, it’s all day with them, until everyone has laid their egg. Meanwhile Mr P might crow 4 or 5 times in the morning. Municipalities around here will allow 3 hens but no Roo, don’t think they know how noisy hens are!!!!
Oh yes, the neighbours would know. G-man and Bela like to have crow-offs all throughout the day!

Yep I think Fluffy is just passing time sitting in the nest box because it’s cold, today with the lovely weather she was outside all day! Same with Marty!

An tonight Fluffy was up on the shelf not in her nest box sleeping, Marty is in her nest box at least!

Well in 2 weeks I will have chicks here and I have no broodies. Drats!
Get busy with the brooder. I could loan you a broodie hen or two if you were closer...

Really? Why are people their own worse critic ? 🥰

I loved it! Music is such a huge part of my culture so when I hear lovely music it’s just so wonderful. I loved how it turned all jouyous when Spring ‘erupted’!

Thank you! This sounds very promising! Do you have a link to the article? What would be a chicken dose?

I know that probably sounds like I’m blowing my own horn, but when you’re composing, you’re adding layers to the texture. So I’d add and add, then I’d decide a section didn’t work so I’d move it out of the way, and discover it worked somewhere else. It’s in sections and I’d swap from section to section and it wasn’t until the last section started coming together did I feel like it was ok. It’s also not mixed and balanced until right at the end, so doesn’t sound how it should until you’re pretty much finished. I am happy with how it turned out, but I’m also going to do some upskilling of my own.
