I just read an article on the use of Apo-Medroxy (progesterone) in hens to reduce egg laying, and it was very promising. They can do an injection every 4-6 weeks or a pill daily.Thank you. She is having a particularly bad day as she was not interested in dinner at all. I suspect she is working on passing the egg. We may bring her in to give her a bath.
I don't feel good giving chickens implant somehow. It is not really an option either. We have a vet here that sees chickens who has a 5 week waiting list on new patients. I also don't know if they do implants. Maybe I will try the birth control pills if I am desperate.
App-medroxy is very inexpensive (I pay about $12 for 3 months worth) and I bet you can get it easily compounded for a chicken dose.
