He is still in full on daddy duty. He finds them food, dust bathes with them and does not let the older ones bully them. Chiquita went to peck one day before yesterday, he intervened.

Sure hope that Mr P is as good with these chicks....

Marty has been trying to sit in her nest box, but Sophia the twit kept hauling her off the nest and even grabbed her by the wing and jumped on her! So I get 2 more eggs and gave them to Sophia in her nest box, plopped her in and now she is happy as a pig in mud.

Marty went back to her nest and I blocked it off so no one can see in, Marty can get out under the curtain.

Meanwhile Penelope kept dragging Fluffy off her nest - so I had to get Penelope two eggs and make a lovely nest just for her.

Misty laid her egg and took off, after spending a few hr sitting in her nest growling at everyone. Guess she isn't that into being broody. Buttercup was still on the nest last I checked, growling up a storm. There would be hope for her if she started this last week... but the chick sounds I had playing interested everyone!

Now Rose has decided that she also wants Fluffy's nest and chased Fluffy away, I tried to put Rose into Misty's nest she vacated but no go.

It's a Soap Oprah here I tell you!

And there is Marty cackling up a storm... now what? she didn't lay an egg. Maybe Buttercup disturbed her when she jumped out of the nest above her.

Well lunchtime, they will have to figure it out themselves.

It's like 09:00hrs! Get up! The day is half done almost!

My gang would have the place torn apart, not to mention the horses ha! (FYI - today I could stay in bed it is FREEZING).

Do yours do the stampede out the doorway with the Roo dancing and trying to chase them back inside? What is that all about? I am trying to chase everyone out, and Mr P herds them up and chases them back inside the Hen House! Hard enough not to step on anyone as it is! Does Jaffar do that?

Hmmmm...is it REALLY chicken rustling if you just happen to drive up to the border....and the chicken just happens to escape from the vehicle...and there just happens to be someone nearby on the other side with a can of mealworms??

i mean, really, If I was a chicken and I heard a meal-worm can shaking, I think I would escape and run towards the noise....
