I like it but Mrs BY Bob has decided on Nanette. There will be no changing her mind. Once she has decided.....Nanette is nice but how about Nadine? (It has a "d" in it like Ned)![]()

Yah,I know. Sadly, He can't join the "Fluffy Butt" crowd" He is shaped kinda like a huge hamster. But, He's a great rooster!Poor baby.![]()
Woohoo!!! Goooo, chickies!Look What I Missed
While I was eating dinner some little made it up the ramp on their own! I found them in the coop ready for bed. So of course I tossed them some food to get them up!
Haha! Silly girls!Utterly Confused by a Tiny Fence
I fenced off this side of the coop to deny the chicks access to the pool. If I leave the side door closed then this should keep them contained.

It has worked well for 2 days. At least for keeping the chicks safe.
It has utterly confused the Aunties.
Apparently, they only know 1 way to enter the coop.
Through the side door that I must keep closed.
So first I let Aurora in to lay her egg. No problem. Lays her egg and rejoins the flock.
Then I let Hattie in. She lays her egg. But she does not rejoin the flock.
Why?
Well, she can't get over the tiny fence. That's right. It's too wobbly for her to stand on and she can't figure out how to jump it.
At one point today I think Phyllis was jumping back and forth over the fence just to tease her!
Fast forward to this afternoon. A thunderstorm breaks. Do the Aunties go under their coop to stay dry?
Nope. They can't. The side door is closed and the tiny wiggly fence is in the way of the other 2 doors to the complex.
They are huddled under the grape vines.

So I opened the side door and in they ran.

I guess I am now "The Gatekeeper". It's no Bucket Boy but at least I'm needed.
Wow, he’s gorgeous and seems like a sweetheart! So, if Bob doesn’t mind I will give everyone a little Barney update over here... here he is eating some soggy Honey Nut Cheerios this morning, remains of our dollar store emergency “feed” (it was literally these or fruit loops! I also gave the boys a full package of soaked plain rice crackers that day, it was the best way I could get them hydrated). On a side note, I also got two full minutes of rooster butt video while he was eating by mistake...
and for his beak progres @Aussie-Chookmum :

And his weird Spurs (his Brothers are completely normal) I kind of like how not-stabby they are with the amount of lap time he’s been having lately!

And the black stuff in the second pic is poop and grass on his back toe, please excuse it. My mornings are just so glamorous here! Yes, I took it off for him when I noticed .![]()
Poor, sweet Tackle! Glad she has you to look out for her. She has beautiful feathers!Tackle is the one closest to my leg and the hen I recently stopped from sitting and hatching.
That little monster eying Tackle up is Mel. Mel is in effect Tribe 1's boss. Fat Bird doesn't get involved in the tribe politics these days but nobody bothers her including Mel.
Tackle is a very gentle hen and all but Moon are a bit on the rough side for her. I have to make sure Tackle gets her share and as in this case, keep Mel from bullying her.

Hahahaaa!!! I’m sorry, Bob, but that’s AWESOME. You need a fence for your pool, I’m afraid. The Walls Have Been Breached
Apparently the small floppy fence is only effective at containing the Aunties. It only took a couple days and Sydney TAUGHT the little chicks to jump-fly over the fence.
She TAUGHT them!
So much for that idea.
